Severely disappointing!
We chose to spend a lot extra on an overnight to take advantage of all the qualities of a well known and rated resort. Upon calling to make a reservation the staff was unsure, a bit confused and told forever to get me a rate. I decided to book online. When we arrived at the equinox it was beautiful. We waited about 8 minutes for a front desk staff member to join and serve us at the front desk. This would be the theme of the night any time we needed anything the staff at the desk was unheard of and out of sight. (I have worked front desk for years in less rated hotels and not being present was absolutely unheard of, so the this amazes me at thisn"luxury"property. . Finally she came out and let us know we would be upgraded from our room with two beds to a ........ king. We have 3 adults staying, so this awkward, and absolutely Not an upgraded just a regular $450 room with one bed instead of two.
The room was pretty and comfy but certainly nothing special. However there was someone else's hair all over the shower. Did they clean it at all? We let the front desk know after a wait. And when we returned from dinner...... I assumed they had cleaned it only to find the large part of hair whipped away, and tons more around the faucet handle and the bottom of the tub.
So even when we pointed out the shower dirty, they never actually corrected the situation.
The host to seat us at dinner was just shy of rude.
We decided to have breakfast ordered for in room and the order from asked us to place the form outside our door by 2am. At 1am we doubled checked the info, and placed it outside the door. An hour after it was supposed to arrive, I looked to realize ..... nobody took our order.
I have absolutely no idea why they think it is okay to charge this much for a room, with this kind of service. At bare minimum, I expect the price we paid to mean that the room is clean. Twice they missed the mark and i am baffled.
Alternatively we stayed at the essex resort over Christmas. It was by and large a better choice, clean, friendly, and much less expensive.
Choose a holiday or Hampton inn instead....
Read moreI have played this course many times over the years and have always liked it, but unfortunately after this past weekend, I will never play there again.
I had a reservation for 4 and we drove up from Connecticut on Friday to play Saturday morning. On the ride up, one of the members of my group had a family emergency where his Son and Wife tested positive for Covid and it left him with nobody else to care for the others in his family as his wife was ill. He tried to find some help throughout the night on Friday but with no luck.
Once I found out that we needed to leave that morning to go home, I called Equinox Golf at 7:00 a.m. and nobody answered so I left a message explaining that a member of my group had a family emergency and I unfortunately needed to cancel the tee time and was very sorry and looked forward to seeing them again soon.
As we continued to pack up to leave, I received a phone call from a very rude woman at Equinox who said there was a 48 hr cancellation policy and they needed my credit card. I explained again and apologized but this was out of our control and was an emergency that we had to leave. Her reply was that they have a waiting list and claimed "how do I know you have an emergency" or if I believe correctly, her exact words were "how do I know that" as if I was lying to her and that she needed the card again.
At that point, I told her that she would not be getting my card number and that I would never visit their golf course again.
How anyone could be so rude and insinuate that I was lying off the bat, was about as inconsiderate and rude as I have ever encountered.
For that reason, myself and my friends will never visit this...
Read moreDo NOT plan an event here. We called 4 months ahead saying we needed 3 tee times for 3 groups of 4 for a tournament we were playing. We also went to the other top course in VT where we had no issues. This was by far the worst experience I have had golfing this year. I am a 10 handicap, so I am not a beginner and understand about keeping pace of play. It started out nice with the people in the club house being very welcoming. But then strange things start happening. They put a pair behind us. The pair complains. The ranger comes to us and tells us to speed up, but we are waiting on every hole on the group in front of us. As a Ranger, when someone complains about pace, you don't just yell at the group in front of them. You drive up to see where there is a gap. And kindly ask THAT GROUP to pick up pace. The bunkers were not well kept. The course layout had maybe 5 holes with character but the rest were mundane layouts. Last but not least, they have a sign on the turn, "if you stop for food we cannot guarantee you can continue playing." I have played all across the world. I have never seen something so short sighted. You are talking people out of buying food at your place, while you are making them feel uncomfortable. The whole experience had very weird vibes....
