Not what it used to be. I ordered a shirt with a total of $53 with shipping. The shirt, although canvas, turned out to be as thin as linen. It was a beautiful shirt, but didn't serve my purposes at all. I returned the shirt, and was charged a total of $15.44 for shipping and return. Lesson learned. Stick to companies with free returns, which includes most businesses these days.
Update, 5 days later. After posting this review, I suddenly received an additional refund of 6.95 for shipping. I asked for this 5 days ago while chatting with the CSR, but was adamantly denied. So my hope is that Orvis decided to do the right thing to satisfy the customer, after seeing this review. I can honestly say that this refund has once again made me decide to keep shopping at my local Orvis store in Myrtle Beach, as well as online. Had I been a customer that makes frequent unwarranted returns, I could understand being denied shipping cost refund. So I have upgraded my rating of THIS transaction to 3 star, due to the issues getting the refund, but Orvis finally deciding to please the customer. Prior to this transaction, all of my orvis transactions have...
Read moreThe Orvis shop was great as always. It's exactly what you would expect from one of the best fly shops in the world. Expect to pay Orvis prices for everything. It is cheaper to buy a Clearwater Rod than to buy 2 belts there. The fish they keep there are awesome to look at.
One of the workers told me it was extremely hard to catch fish on the Battenkill. He said he moved from Arizona and has yet to catch one on the Battenkill. He's no professional but knows how to catch fish. It should tell you how hard it is.
Orvis some of your employees need to humble themselves.
As the picture provided you can see it's not that hard if you love fly fishing and know how to fish and I am far from professional.
Overall the store was fantastic as expected. Very pricey but you pay for quality there. Not quantity. Employees need training on how to actually fish...
Read moreReally handsome store and if you fish, especially fly fish, this is the promised land. Don't forget to bring your wallet, bc while this store is packed to the gills with fine merchandise, its not cheap. Even the bathrooms are immaculate. There are some fish food vending machines to feed the live fish in the casting ponds. It won't take up much of your day, but entertaining for several minutes, especially for kids. You can book lessons, here, and even overcast days seem acceptable on these grounds. Ample parking, and just next door is the outlet store where you can find thousands of Orvis items marked down to a more manageable cost. There are plenty of food options up the road, and the area is as quaint as it gets. I now know the subtle differences between a Brook, Brown, and Rainbow trout! My pics stink, my apologies. It's...
