I'm in the nursing program at MATC. The nursing program used to be FANTASTIC, but in recent times it has become so much worse. The teachers and staff intermittently enforce rules depending on their mood that day, with blatantly obvious favoritism or disrespect depending on the student. We have had technical difficulties with zoom literally EVERY SINGLE DAY.
There's also the online text book. They rolled the online textbook into our tuition, and didn't give us the choice of a physical or online textbook. I asked if i could switch to a physical textbook, and i was told that i would have to buy it myself. I later came to discover that the textbooks they bought us will expire in a year, downloads included. Matc forced us to spend 1,589 dollars on a RENTAL. We spent the same price on rental textbooks that we would have spent on textbooks that we would be able to own, and we didn't have any choice in the matter. Additionally, they kept preaching over and over that nclex style questions were available for learning and quizzing, as well as teachers being able to make highlights of important stuff in the textbook, but after contacting the company that sold them the textbooks, they said that MATC never bought the package with the NCLEX style questions.
When I asked about what would happen if one of us caught covid 19 during clinicals, the teacher responded with "just don't go to aggieville, and you'll be fine." Not only does this blatantly disrespect us, it shows a blatant disregard for the pandemic that is currently sweeping across our nation and has killed millions of people. It's a very unprofessional response, that the teacher should be very ashamed of making as a Healthcare professional. I later on saw that very same teacher at a store, coughing WITHOUT a mask on. I don't know if she caught covid 19, but the fact she wasn't wearing a mask out in public and was coughing is highly concerning, especially when there is a pandemic going on.
The teachers will blame anybody but themselves. If you also need accomodations for anything, they will not help you, and will actually blatantly disrespect you in some cases. MATC was SUPER unprepared for this semester, and it shows. A significantly higher than average number of students have dropped out of the program this semester, and more are continuing to drop.
I only went for one semester, but matc tried to keep my tuition for both semesters. It took my scholarship provider threatening legal action in order for them to provide a refund for the second semester.
And these experiences are all just the tip of the iceberg. MATC's nursing program is an absolute mess, and I would highly recommend going to a different nursing program (at the very least until covid...
Read moreI had heard such amazing things about this program in the past and could not wait to attend the nursing program. However those amazing things were in the past! One of the most unprofessional schools I have ever encountered. The communication is awful with rules that are made up as you go along. So many false promises made that they cannot follow through with and then place the blame on others for it. Hold your ability to test until you take a survey about the school! This could be a great program again if the leadership was held accountable for their actions. Check our all programs and reviews before making any final decisions. As if nursing school wasn’t...
Read moreI went through the ADN and LPN program. There is a lot of miscommunication in this school. There seems to be rules made up as they go and rules they make are often intermittently enforced depending on the mood of the faculty. The teachers overall were great with some exceptions but the leadership was terrible. I had asked for help on a few occasions. Every time I was either ignored or pawned off to other faculty then ignored. The one bright spot was the TLC. The person that runs it was outstanding. I made it through this program in spite of them not because of them. I feel a person looking to attend this school should really be sure it...
