I brought my 2 laptops to Fix My Computer to get them FIXED. The first computer needed a new screen. I have no real complaints here – other than the fact that he aggressively ripped out the screen while complaining about its structure. The second laptop needed a new battery. I spilled water on my kitchen table a few months ago. By the GRACE OF GOD, it worked 2+ months with no issues. The only issue was the battery was not holding any charge – so I had to have it plugged into the charger at all times. The computer is 5 yrs old and had a notification “battery condition: replace now” before water was ever spilled near it. He ordered a new battery and said he would put it in when it arrived. He called and said something like “I got the screen in. On the Mac I got the new battery in and powered it on and I don’t know if the keyboard and mouse were working before…” “They were,” I interrupted. “Well now they don’t,” he laughed. I came in and he said “the keyboard and mouse weren’t working but look at what I figured out! The laptop works with a wireless keyboard and USB mouse.” He genuinely believed that he “made it work again.” But, it’s a 1600 laptop that was BROKEN. Embarrassing and delusional! I told him I was very upset – as the computer was now in worse condition than when I brought it in. He went on the “well I never saw it working.” He became defensive and yelled “IT’S THE WAY MACS ARE BUILT.” He then said he heated it to remove the battery and this was the only way to do it. If you google how to remove a mac battery, NONE of the guides require HEATING IT. I am a chemical engineer – the heat caused a reaction that caused the chip to DEGRADE. The battery and keyboard/mouse chip are SEPARATE COMPONENTS, which tells me he was not CAREFUL! All I was looking for here was some accountability. Instead, all he did was SCREAM like a child “IT’S NOT MY FAULT. I DIDN’T BREAK IT. RICE FELL OUT OF IT.” He then said this happens all the time at repair places “but people don’t throw a hissy fit like you.” He also demeaningly called me “girl” a lot. When I told him I should have listened to the reviews, he claimed the reason he had bad reviews on google is because he’s not a pushover. Also at one point he tossed the screen and laptop at me and told me to get out. He is INCOMPETENT, DIRTY, and AGGRESSIVE. He is a bully. Out of a laptop, he told me to look at his selection. I genuinely thought he was going to give me one of his refurbished computers to compensate. I was stupid – the money-driven man charged me for it. I did not like the laptop I purchased and decided to sell my broken mac (for a measly $150) and went back to return the laptop I purchased. It was subject to a 20% re-shelving fee – which is fine. I brought the receipt and handed it to him. He asked “ok what did we do here?” I said the laptop was 200, the HDMI cord was 10, and labor was 50. Do the math, with 6% tax, that brings us to 275.60 – the amount on the receipt!!! He YELLS – SO YOU’RE TELLING ME ALL THE LABOR I DID IS $50. I’m thinking…is this guy stupid or just bipolar? I said you said you would not charge me for the labor for the mac. He goes I MADE IT WORK WITH THE KEYBOARD AND MOUSE and the keyboard was $89. AND I THREW THE HDMI CORD IN BECAUSE YOU WERE UPSET. AND I DIDN’T CHARGE FOR THE LABOR BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP. 1) He said he would not charge me for labor BEFORE I said I was buying the new laptop, 2) I stood at the computer as he entered $10 for HDMI cord, and 3) THE LAPTOP did not work with the keyboard and mouse – that’s a joke! He showed a racist youtube video as I was leaving – I uncomfortably laughed to get out of there…alive. I do wish I would have stood up and said “this is wrong.” I remember him yelling “I’m trying to PUT FOOD ON THE TABLE FOR MY KIDS.” If you treated your customers better, you would probably be doing a lot better! He is the first to go on the defense, immature, no respect for customers. A wonder this guy is still...
Read moreThe best way I can describe this "repair shop" as it is called, by the old saying "you get what you pay for". However, in my case I wasn't even that lucky. I own an HP touch screen laptop that somehow acquired two large cracks in the screen. While it was still operable I decided to take it to fix my computer where I was told "no problem, I'll order the part which will take about a week, and I'll call you when it's done." I thought great, he only quoted me $125 or so to fix it and he'd call me if there were any changes. Almost two weeks go by without contact so I called him to find that he had ordered the wrong part from China, it'll be another week. One week later, I am still wondering why I haven't gotten a single phone call I was promised when I dropped off the computer. I call again, guess what? Next part wasn't the right one either. You guessed it, one more week passes in which I am without a computer. I call again to be told that HP and his supplier is the issue, the real part I need is going to be over $400 uninstalled. Nope, I decided I'm coming to pick up my computer I don't wish to make that kind of payment after all this time. This is when I began to get insulted and screamed at over the phone by the owner of this "business". He immediately became defensive and went on about how it isn't his fault, I can't come pick up my computer because it's in 100 pieces in his shop, etc. I told him especially at this point I would just like my computer back as I have no interest in continued business with you. He told me that it is ridiculous I couldn't understand the terms he was using the describe the parts, and that I couldn't understand why he couldn't put my computer back together. I now understand that he couldn't put it back together because in the process of taking it apart, he did more damage to it. He told me it would be 140$ to put it back together and it wouldn't be touch screen anymore. So I am paying you more than I was quoted originally for my computer, which was more functioning when dropped it off? After much debate and the WORST customer service (SCREAMED at and INSULTED) I have ever witnessed even in movies, I picked up my computer without a screen and was charged $63 for this "professionals time."
I advise nobody use this man as a repair service. I cannot speak for his retail items as they seem to have good reviews but when it comes down to repair (which his shop is named of), it's definitely worth spending the extra buck to go to Best Buy or other shops who care about your business and at least has the courtesy to treat you like a wanted customer. Hell, they might even give you a phone call when your repair takes a month longer...
Read moreI have had nothing but good experience with this place and the owner. He has been honest and up front and made good on his word when I have brought equipment in for repair or when I bought a nice portable Dell PC from him two months ago. He tested my wife's laptop on the spot and found the source of the problem within minutes. I also brought him my Canon Pixma computer, which had fallen off my desk (I tripped over the cord) and wasn't working anymore. He said "It will cost you $20 to take a look at it and I can't promise you it can be fixed. You'll have to decide if it's worth $20 to find out." That's fair. I got it as a refurb back in December of 2007 anyway and got MORE than my money's worth out of it. I paid $20, called him a couple of days later and he said "Yeah, it's dead." He then explained WHY it was dead and I was satisfied. This guy knows his stuff and is confident and direct when he tells you both the good news AND the bad news. Yesterday I upgraded the RAM on my wife's laptop and, yeah, I could have just gone online and saved a couple of bucks, but I'd rather keep the money local. His prices are more than fair. Like I said, he's sure and direct when he answers questions and gives you info. Some people can't handle direct. Personally, I love it. This guy is NO B.S. and is my...
