Management at this store is completely useless. I had an undelivered rebate check stolen most likely by a USPS employee and I was told at the store that I wouldn't be out the money. Weeks went by, stopped back in, the store admitted that they should've checked the ID of the person using my check however they offered nothing to make matters right when they admitted they didn't follow policy and were at fault. Later follow-up they basically said something that came off as saying, tough luck, we don't care, not our problem, we never said we would make it right, it's not our policy to check ID on high dollar rebates, and retracted everything said before. I don't think it is out of line to ask for the amount stolen and used at their stole because of the employee/management negligence to know how to enforce company policy, let alone know what company policy is even if they misspoke initially. At least own up to it and admit to it, don't lie about it and say that it was never said. Almost $150 down the drain for me, and they don't care at all. You think a $150 gift card isn't much when they acknowledged they were at fault and saw the stolen check redeemed on camera, they would try to make matters right since it's a drop in the bucket to them.
Update- 03/29/18: It turns out after I spent endless hours failing to resolve this issue with Menards, rebates international, Menards loss prevention, and also around 5-6hours total with USPS, the guy was found who was stealing rebates in the area. Menards didn't act on notifying the inspector general with the post office for almost three months after a dozen customers reported stolen rebates being used at their store. You would think after just a couple of them being stolen showing the same guy it should maybe be turned over to local police and USPS inspector general? Total gross negligence of Menards management and lack of caring for their customers. At least they finally reported it, but slightly ridiculous it took so many reports and sightings of the same guy before they actually took it seriously and took action. Yet there has still been no changes to policy for checking ID for rebates over X amount. (Super easy fix, wouldn't take more than a few seconds for the few high dollar rebates), and their only solution implemented company wide prior to this was to place a flap over the rebate to conceal the amount. No different than telling a thief they Essentially are guaranteed a winning lottery ticket now, but the amount is just a mystery until they peek inside.
Shop local, shop at the one with the silo, shop at the blue one, or shop at the orange store. Menards doesn't value...
Read moreI recently purchased $500 worth of tile for a project I am working on and decided to rent a wet masonry saw to cut the tile. Although I didn't know it at the time the worker failed to give me the water bucket needed to run the water hose on the saw. I was able to work around this by using a 5 gallon bucket of water and putting the water hose in the bucket with water. When I went to return the saw the following day I was accused of stealing the water bucket that the poorly trained employee failed to give me. Not only was I accused of stealing it but was also forced to wait for the customer service workers to watch security footage from the previous day to confirm that I did not steal the water bucket.
After this experience I emailed corporate Menards to inform them of the incident. They apologized and forwarded my email onto the store manager who failed to respond to me for nearly a week. I emailed corporate Menards a second time and got a response from the store manager a few hours later with a half hearted apology and overall lack of caring.
Horribly trained employees, terrible customer service that starts at the store manager and continue through to the minimum wage employees who don't even know what accessories need to be checked out with their rental equipment.
I will never shop here again and I suggest others avoid it as well. Horrible....
Read more"I am sorry to hear that the carpet you purchased may not have been what you needed.". Stop right there! This isn't about what I "needed".... It's about in not being what I paid for.
Picked out & paid for some new carpet at Menards to be laid in our bedroom. They told us to take a picture of the pick-up slip/code & send to our installer, as he was going to pick up the new carpet the following morning from Menards & install while we were at work. We did just so. And to our surprise when we got home, the carpet was not the correct color. We purchased "Whisper Brown". The carpet on our floor is "Whisper Gray". The Menards man cut the wrong color carpet, rolled it up & labeled it Whisper Brown. Now we have spend over $700 (on carpet and installation)... & didn't get the product that we paid for. Menards Employee Error.... And we have to pay for it to be fixed?!?! We just purchased a house. Lots of purchases have been made at Menards the past couple weeks! Lots of money spent & put on our Menards BigCard. I guess we will pack back up the new lawn mower, weed whipper, leaf blower and return, along with anything else we've purchased but not installed yet in our new house .... And take our business elsewhere! Very...
