This is a long review. So if you don't want to read it all. Here's the point. Unless you just want an oil change don't go here or anywhere affiliated with this place! I started to change my exhaust manifold on my truck. It's a bad job. Rusty bolts, confined spaces. I got the old manifold off at home but then couldn't get the studs out. With my work schedule I decided to take it here to get the job finished. Original quote, over the phone, from Pat the owner was $500-$1500. Pricy. But it's a tedious job. I said fine, thinking the worst at $1500. Had it towed. Next day the manager, Eric, called me and now the estimate is $2910! He said heads will have to be removed and sent to a machine shop because the could only get 3 studs out. 5 left in the head. I was skeptical. Especially when I was told I needed to spend @$300 for special tools to do the job! Now I have to buy their tools? Now ford does require special tools to remove/install heads. Keep in mind these are exhaust studs. Then the next day. I was told by Eric that per Ford when you take the heads off you are required to change cam phasers and timing belt, tensioners and gears. So now the estimate is over $3800!! Again for exhaust studs.. So I called Ford. Head removal for exhaust studs is NOT recommended. Never. Proper protocol is to drill out the broken studs. While engine is intact! So I had it towed home. But first I had a bill for the work they did. 1.5 hours at $80 an hour. 3 studs removed. Not unreasonable. Except they broke 3 tabs off my factory pearl white fender flares! They did that for free. So now it's home. Some research I bought proper drill, drill bits and proper penetrating oil. Soaked 2 times a day for 5 days. Saturday i started the job. In 1 hour and 15 minutes i had 4 out of the 5 studs out. The fifth I had to helicoil. $250 for all the PROPER TOOLS. And I have them for life. Not a bad day. You be the judge. By the way the towing company that came to tow my truck? Ya manteno quick lube tried the same tactics with him too. Sorry guys you messed with an educated consumer!
Pat, I was honest and truthful in my review. Please don't twist the truth to make you look better. I broke zero studs. 1 stud was broken off flush with head. Not by me or you. Let's call that one nature. The rest the heads of the nuts were so rusted even the smaller size socket wouldn't down them off. So the the heads of the studs were cut off to get the actual manifold off. Which I told you and you agreed with me. All studs minus the 1 were sticking out 1/2" or more. Your guys did loose all my clips for my inner fender and broke 3 tabs off my pearl white fender flare. Fact. As to the 5 days at your shop. I don't have a shop, or a garage big enough for my truck either. I do have a driveway. As do you. When i left for work I sprayed the studs. With quality penetrating oil. When i got home, usually 12 hours later I sprayed again. 5-10 seconds each day. Then Saturday I spent 2.5 hours or so on it. With the proper tools. I was quite clear on the description of the job. You accepted the job. Ford doesn't recommend a new engine or removing the head for this procedure. Just tell me you don't have the time nor the expertise to do this job. Don't blame it on me the customer. Please don't forget I'm not the only person you've tried this tactic with. That is also fact. As I said months ago. Stick to...
Read moreI am a little premature in fully reviewing this automotive establishment .As of now , My husband had his truck serviced there which is from what I understand is one of the four "ALL AUTOMOTIVE" locations. I am only familiar with the one in peotone and I absolutely love it , they are awesome and honest people ( see full review), however , they were too busy to work on our vehicle at this time, so, we went here. There are some service lights on inside the truck that still need to be addressed and hopefully they will be soon. So....at that time , I will update and be able to give a full and detailed final review of our experience.
They changed my oil with the wrong oil. I even stated to them that a lot of places do not have the oil in stock. They assured me they did on the phone as well as in person. I noticed the vehicle temp not the ussual and looked at the receipt to see the incorrect oil was used. They deined that the oil was incorrect despite a google search show dexos 1 is not to be used in diesel engines. They stated they would put the correct oil in but would be an additional $100 on top of $120 already paid. So in all $220 gone.
Deining the fact that the oil first used is wrong you would not had to cover anything extra. I asked several times if you had the correct oil and you lied stop trying the cover up the fact that you were wrong in the first place. Look it up dexos 1 is not to be used on diesel engines. It even has the correct oil on the cap. I asked for the correct oil the first time I had no problems paying for it
Your oil vendor is wrong and that's not my fault a quick Google search would have told you otherwise. Luckily I noticed myself engine running higher Temps before this error went unnoticed your still deining the fact that the wrong oil was used look it up for yourself. I mentioned in person and on the phone what my vehicle wa. Fyi 7qts of acdelco is $80 might want to use them in the future. I had no problem with paying 120 everyone has to make some money I get it but your mistake cost me an extra 100...
