Yannis Cafe — Restaurant in Manteno

Stopped in for breakfast to go for my wife and I. A young lady Immediately met me at the register and took my order. I ordered two of the "build your own omelet deals with mushroom, tomato, bacon, ham, green pepper and American cheese. We decided on pancakes instead of toast, and a side of bacon each. I stood by the register while I waited for my order to be made, and one of the customers says to me, "Come on over here and have a seat, we're not gonna bite (in jest)!". I thanked them for the invite, but let them know that I needed to go the post office and would return very soon. She bagged up my order very well and made sure that I had everything I needed to enjoy our breakfast. We really enjoyed it and wish I could give them a 4.75 for food instead of a 4. The only reason that I didn't give a 5 for the food, was the American cheese in the omelet seemed to be Velveta, and it was concentrated in the center of my omelet and was just too much. I suppose the various tastes of people must be one of the most difficult things for a restaurant to deliver on. I have dined at Yanni's several times and always found the food to be of the highest quality. While I don't live in Manteno full-time, (I work in Chicago during the week), I often stop here. The staff is always extremely friendly and very attentive. The only drawback, if such it could be called, is that the cafe is somewhat limited in size- and, of course, this can't be helped. They do an excellent job of accommodating the greatest number of people possible- without the cafe seeming overcrowded. My recommendation? We met some family members at Yannis for breakfast. They were nice enough to seat us even though we were still waiting for 2 people. The wait staff that took care of us was very friendly and attentive. I had a chicken sandwich with a cup of excellent homemade soup. Both hot, fresh and tasty. Everyone else had various regular breakfast items, eggs, pancakes and things like that. Everything was hot and fresh and came out in a sensible amount of time.
