Storage Sense - Manteno — Local services in Manteno

I submitted a move out notice online, and even called two weeks prior to confirm with an employee. I had taken all the proper steps needed to inform Storage Sense that I was moving out. I even have a screenshot from October confirming my move out notice was received. Despite all of this, the facility manager of Storage Sense attempted to send me to collections for $800. We decided to call, wondering, “how the hell can someone say we owe them $800 for a unit we left empty and unlocked? Surely this must be a mistake!” Unfortunately, the Facility manager did not see it as a mistake. The manager informed me: “most people don’t even pay when they go to collections”. Really, Sir? This hasn’t exactly been an easy year for the rest of the world, and you’re perfectly fine knowing you’re facility is mistakenly extorting those who follow proper procedure? Apparently, he’s just fine with that. According to him, I should have done more. Right. Because it’s my responsibility your employees dropped the ball. After this, he must have realized he didn’t have a leg to stand on, because he decided to just hang up. Truth hurts, I guess.

P.S. When I collected all my things in October, around 40% of what was stored had to be thrown away due to bugs, and mouse droppings. Definitely much nicer, more secure facilities...

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I would. First off they raised the rent twice in 1 year the second time without sending a letter to inform me it was being raised. When we went to empty the storage unit everything around the perimeter was wet and ruined. Everything had spiders and mouse droppings in it as well so now I am going to have to throw away most of my childrens baby items. Then they called me and threatened to send me to collections over things that were destroyed in their unit and left behind. They literally went straight to threatening me about going to collections instead of talking to me. I feel like it is unlawful to threaten people in this manner. Not to mention the insurance they were charging me for even though I had insurance on the unit the entire time I was in it. Just because they couldn’t keep track of their files doesn’t mean I should have to pay for it. Kept asking for a manager to call us as well and they claimed that a manager wasn’t available for over a week… literally the scummiest storage place. Stay far away from this place unless you want to pay them to have your...

To begin, I left this storage facility for numerous reasons... the rent increases are astronomical, taxes that don't exist being put on my bill and so much more. 😑 The only good thing here was the new manager Christine who was kind, sweet, and most of all helpful and understanding. If it weren't for the distasteful rent increases and money mishaps from Storage Sense, I would still be here for Christine...
