The Compound Ski & Snowboard Shop — Local services in Marquette

I want to start by stating that the Compound has relatively affordable prices and a friendly environment. However, I have never seen an owner more hungry to up sale customers. My first experience with the shop was my sister purchasing her first pair of skis. The owner gave her package deal "special price" and when she went to check out he ended up ringing her up for over $50 to the price they agreed upon. Eventually, she spoke up and questioned the price. He played it off like he forgot even though he stated the price multiple times. The last time I went to his shop, I wanted to get my skis waxed. According to the site, there is no difference besides a $15 price increase. When I got to the shop he refused to wax them stating they needed to be tuned. But what are the differences between the two? Nothing.

Nice selection, friendly employees, greasy owner.

It has been awhile since I have walked in to a store or dealt with any company in a very long time where the company and its employees actually care about their customers and providing quality product and service. It was very refreshing to shop at The Compound and be actually taken care of. They are trusting, honest, not pushy sales people, very knowledgeable in all of their equipment including clothes and other merch, attentive, and personable. I went during the off season so I got sale prices but also they honored a price match online. They let me demo a board and transferred my bindings, gave it a new wax and sharpen etc. Just all around great honest service! I normally shop online but there is definitely value going to a local shop with your own personal expert and fair prices and walking out the door with brand new gear...

The Compound Landscaping, Brandon and his crew did such an amazing job on our backyard terrace. We had railroad ties that were in there for over 30 years and badly needed to be removed. Brandon took us out to choose the stone we wanted to use and even showed us fire pit kits that were great. They did an excellent job and finished within two weeks including grading the yard, topsoil and grass seed. We waited so long and couldn’t be happier.
