ALDI — Local services in Martinsburg

We went here today because our grandmother bought us five foods that we could not eat due to allergies. We didn’t have the receipt because we did not personally purchase the items. We explained this to the cashier and she said she had to get manager approval. She left to get the manager and we stood waiting at the counter. At that point, nothing had been remotely high tempered or confrontational. We and the cashier had both been pleasant. Suddenly, a booming angry voice comes yelling at us from behind, “I can’t make that return for all that stuff without a receipt. I don’t even know that you bought it. That’s too much - get out of here with that!”. This was our literal first interaction with this beast of a woman. We started to speak to clarify that it was only five items and she just started yelling again. I’ve never been treated so rudely for literally no reason. We have never interacted with that behemoth before and she had literally no reason to treat us that way. I hope she learns some people skills or else I...

This store/manager went out of his way in a BIG way to help a local feeding program for school children. An order that had been placed at the local ALDI and had been mishandled at a higher level, did not arrive on the scheduled time and appeared that it would not before our monthly food packing the following day. The manager and store members of this ALDI spent their evening and next morning making sure that we got the 13 skids of food that we needed to feed local school children. They served above and beyond for their community. They even helped us to unload the flatbed trailer, which they personally rented, while is poured rain. I would like to congratulate this manager and his staff for going the extra mile to assure that our local children had food to take home for weekends (over 800 children in the Berkeley & Jefferson Co area). I love this Aldi! The staff are always so friendly and helpful. Store is clean, and they try very hard to keep the check out lines low. I’ve only experienced one time when they were out of stock in something I wanted. I’ve never had anything from there that I didn’t like. And you can’t beat some of their prices!

One thing that’s kind of sad is that they don’t always have the same things week to week. There was this delicious frozen pizza that had goat cheese and a fig sauce. Seriously, so good, but it was only there for a little while and I check every time I’m there hoping it’s there, and it never is.

Make sure you bring a quarter for your cart (I keep one in my car that is my “Aldi quarter”), but don’t worry, you get it back! I also bring my own bags. They have bags for purchase, but just bring your own. Makes it easier for packing groceries and having less bags to...
