Texas Corral — Local services in Martinsville

We decided to give Texas Corral in Martinsville a try, but honestly, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall.

The rolls tasted weird, they were doughy. Yuck!

I ordered the “Texas Grub”, which is described like the Texas Roadhouse “Roadkill.” In reality, it’s just a glorified hamburger with cheese on top. No seasoning, no flavor—just bland. Even our waitress confirmed, “Yeah, it’s basically a hamburger.” Save yourself the $17.99 and grab a regular burger if you’re eating here it’s cheaper —you’ll enjoy it more.

The tater skin appetizers were the bright spot—crispy and tasty, easily the best part of the meal.

We also tried the sirloin (6 oz) which was cooked correctly and tender. Same for the ribs—they were tender and fell off the bone as advertised, but tasted just okay. I ordered them plain with the barbecue sauce on the side, and the sauce helped but didn’t save them.

The mac and cheese tastes like it’s straight out of a box—nothing homemade about it. The baked potato butter is suspiciously yellow, and I’m not convinced it was real butter.

As if the prices weren’t high enough already, they also slap on a 3% “convenience fee” for using a debit or credit card.

“Our menu prices are for cash purchases.” — This is taped to the front door. (See the photo.)

In 2025, a sit-down restaurant charging extra for cards just feels outdated and greedy.

The restaurant itself feels dated. The projectors on the back wall are old, the decor is tired, and it just feels like a place that needs a refresh.

The waitress was extremely kind, attentive, and helpful. Credit where it’s due—the service was the best part of the visit. The restaurant also appeared clean, including the tables, menus, and surroundings.

A few passable items (like the tater skins), decent service, but the food just isn’t worth the price—and the surprise card fee is the final nail in the coffin. Bland, uninspired, and disappointing for what should be a...

I will Never go back to this location, and it is quite upsetting for me.

Well! I was super excited to go here and do a review. We order take-away food from here All of the time, sooo, I wanted to give them a 5 star review and take some great pictures for them..

Well, as soon as we walked in, the hostess looked super annoyed and had a look of disgust on her face as she looked me up and down.. Okay, whatever. (I was dressed completely appropriately with my body totally covered. Not even the tiniest smidgen of cleavage peeking out to say hi or anything!)

We get seated across from a dirty table. There are only 2 other customers in the whole restaurant. & that table sat there dirty for a good half hour. 2 other customers in the whole restaurant... This made me start looking around a bit. This place is filthy. I took a ton of pictures here, and now I'm zooming in and seeing even more filth. I dare you to zoom in on some of these pics. My worry is if it's this filthy out where the customers have full view of the yuck, then what the H E double hockey sticks does the kitchen look like?! 😳

Now, onto the horrible service we received and the treatment we encountered. (With that being said, I want to make a side note that our waitress was just fine. Especially considering she was new and in training.)

After an encounter with an employee, we were not feeling super comfortable and decided to just get a snack instead. I ordered a side salad. My friend ordered a cup of soup and a side of macaroni & cheese. It took over 20 minutes to get our food. (Not an exaggeration either, time stamps on pics prove it) With only two other customers in the restaurant... & these are items that are always ready...

Anyway! I absolutely do Not recommend this place. Not anymore & it's a shame because I really love their food.

But they made me feel so uncomfortable, unwelcome, and grossed out that I won't return. Not to...

Have enjoyed getting takeout from here and have enjoyed the food, however, upon visiting this restaurant with my friend, we discovered it to be a sub par experience when eating in.

We arrived and walked through the door, and the hostess sat is dropping rolls that the table it no plates or silverware. The plates were stacked about 3 feet away from her and I asked if we could get a couple of plates and she just stopped and looked at me and rudely said your waitress will get your plates.

I’m sorry, but if you sit us down with any kind of food at the same time, you should also provide us with the utensils and the plate to eat the food with, and off of.

Out waitress did finally approach the table and we proceeded to order. Simple item that are pre-made and served quickly. They always had been when ordering take out.

But today it took over 20 minutes to be served. A side salad, cup of soup and one side. There were only 2 other customers in the restaurant so they weren’t busy.

During the wait. We had a lot of time to look at the atmosphere of the restaurant and discover how absolutely filthy it is. In fact the table across from us had been vacated before we arrived and we were seated across from a dirty table that wasn’t bussed until we got our food.

Empty restaurant. No excuse. And it wasn’t just the un-bussed table, the floor underneath our feet was black with filth from not having been cleaned for what appeared to be months. Doesn’t this place have daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning lists.

Not to mention the dust and food crumbs that were covering the shades and window sill.

I could go on, but this is enough to permanently remove this place from my list of places to eat. If the seating area was as bad as it was, I can only imagine how filthy the kitchen is.
