I visited the new Coastal yesterday, but prefer the Mount Vernon store to this one. And even more, I prefer the Skagit County Farm Store in Stanwood. One thing I didn't like about this store is that bags of feed, shavings, and other animal items are not on the floor. They have cards (with descriptions) on this wall on an aisle that you select and take up to the cash register and pay. You can't physically see the item until it's loaded. I like to look over what I am buying and see it. It's like assuming that I buy one product and brand all the time and don't need to see several choices. Often times, we will buy additional items and try it because we can physically see it as well.
The inconvenience to me is that I wanted a couple bales of 10 cu ft. of Nature's shavings and there were no cards for the shavings on the wall. The computer showed the one I wanted as sold out, but she called back, checked, and was told they did have them in stock. I didn't notice when they loaded the item, which I should've paid attention to, but they loaded a different kind of shaving. I didn't notice until unloading at home. This is unacceptable because we've tried so many different kinds and really like the small flake Nature's shavings.
Some staff seem inexperience with farm and ranch animals and products. I overheard two employees being told by another more experienced employee about how the chicks were set up incorrectly and the heat lamps were incorrect and causing the chicks some discomfort. Even though she spent extra time explaining, I felt that initially the chicks were set-up incorrectly, and I feel someone should have been there with knowledge at set-up to ensure proper care of live chicks. Anyone who knows chicks knows that the dynamics of their area is...
Read moreI am really only going to be giving the gun section a two star review "January 19th Sunday around 1:15pm" . I went in there to try and look at the Kimber K6S 3" they had there. I had been bouncing back and forth between the Colt Cobra 38 special they had. There was some young gentleman working behind the counter talking to some other female employee from the looks of it had just gotten off work. There was another older gentleman working on some type of paperwork there on his personal cell phone. I had looked at the younger gentleman who was talking to the lady who I assume got off work and waved my hand and raised it like I was in elementary School just to be looked at by both of them. They seemed to look at the older gentleman who was on his personal phone and then continue to go back to there conversation. The older gentleman that was on his cellphone with the paperwork got up turned away and continue to have his conversation regarding some dog that was in his back yard earlier that day! The other two continue to talk about I am assuming a "house moving" that had just happened and an the dramatic end of the move. I sat there for a few minutes than decided to leave. I thought it would be better to try and support my local gun store because I had just moved here. But from the looks of it I might just go back to sportsmans in Everett! But the young ladies that were working over in the Smokers were very helpful in educating in the Daniel Boone with the cell phone app it was very informative. I am sorry I did not get your names to put in the review. I do plan on going back there to do more shopping but absolutely not to...
Read moreI suggest placing all the bins of ducks so people can see those as well instead of in the middle of the chick fenced in area. We asked the women working inside the chick area if we could take a quick peak to see if those were the ones we were looking for and the lady asked us if we are buying today .... well first we want to see the ducks to see if they were the right ones. We got refused the right to even see a "product" you have for sale. We are getting our animals elsewhere, this was just a tip b/c if you have these animals for sale how are they ever going to find a home if they are kept a distance away and we are not allow to view them? She was extremely rude and I left feeling bothered by the whole situation. going to baxters farm instead where they are more then willing to spend the time with you in order for you to make your decision. Total waste of our time going to to coastals for animals they do not want to sell...
