The waterfall/rainforest hike with Abby was hands down our most cherished experience from our family trip to Hawaii. We split our trip between Maui and Kauai with a little bit of everything from adventure to cooking to self touring and relaxation.

We swam and cliff-jumped into 3 waterfalls on this tour and fed fish at a 4th waterfall. I wasn't sure whether our 2 sons (11 and 7) would opt to cliff-jump, especially our youngest but they both overcame their fears and had an amazing time. Everyone felt very accomplished after the hike and got a lot of swimming and jumping in. I wasn't sure whether our 7 year old would keep-up but the overall experience with Abby as our guide couldn't have been more perfect. During the hiking portions, she kept us engaged and occupied with lots of education about the island, plants and animals. We got to eat /forage various plants on the hike, our collective favorite being the ice cream bean. I could not think of a better way to experience the island!

I'm glad we ultimately booked the waterfall/rainforest hike, we originally were looking to book the shorter hike to accommodate our youngest but he loved this and had no trouble keeping up. We did ultimately buy decent water/hiking shoes to wear which helped us all have an easy experience trudging through water at a couple points and transitioning from hiking to swimming with ease. We kept our shoes on the whole time. I would recommend water hiking shoes especially to keep the kiddos moving and happy. We did book a private tour which was very well worth it for our family. I'm sure we would have enjoyed the group tour as well but did not regret the private tour experience. Hope to book another tour with Hike Maui on a future trip! Thank you, Abby!

(Hike Maui also provided everything we needed plus a packed lunch. We also have nut allergies and had no issues enjoying the lunch, we did confirm no nuts...

SIX STARS…….. Why 6…..Well being a person is is not really the touristy take a tour type we lined this up to get the group together. This was not the case. Micheal our guide was AWESOME!!!! He truly made the trip an experience. His knowledge of the plants and local traditions were not presented in some cheesy way. He truly engaged the group and spoke of relevant local traditions and more. He guided us through the jungle, pointing out edible and non-edible plants. Their benefits and more. He took us mainly on non-public trails which made it nice and private. We toured multiple water falls, swam, swung from cliffs, jumped from rocks and became one with nature. I truly cannot thank Michael enough for the experience all the way around. The best part is even the pick up and ride from our hotel was where the journey started. All along the way from Wailea to our hiking spot he spoke of the local changes and engaged the whole group. He added a comfortable level of friendship beyond any guide we have met. Once in the jungle we took our time and truly got to witness our surroundings. This was not a trudge through fast and get on to the next the tour game. As for the “Tour Company” - They have leases and deals worked out with local land owners it seems to gain access to restricted areas and private property. This is what makes it even more special. We were able to see areas the public never gets to see and enjoy water falls and areas all to ourselves. So no public swarmed with tourists waterfalls and waiting in line to jump off a rock.

In all my 40+ years of tours and trying to find that special experience Michael and Hike Maui come with the highest of recommendations.

Keep up the great work guys and...

What an incredible experience! I went here with my best friend of over twenty years on a Mommy’s Getaway. We were nervous, given how out of shape we are now. But as soon as we were picked up we knew we were in good hands. Let’s start with their customer service. We needed extra questions answered and ran into issues with the waiver. Getting ahold of the company was easy and the customer service was excellent! The tour itself was beautiful! It started immediately once we were picked up. We got details and tips on every place we passed that would further enhance our trip or future trips such as the best places to eat, shop, stay at and more! The hike was not difficult at all! Of course there was mud and some uphill climbs along with a downward climb involving a rope for safety. But not once did we feel unsafe or worried. Let’s get to our Tour Guide. The wonderful Randalyn. She is a gem! She is incredibly knowledgeable and made our experience fun and memorable. We got to swim under two waterfalls, enjoyed lunch with beautiful views and learned a lot about the land and Maui’s culture. She fed us food from the land and taught us neat tricks to survive or just enjoy ourselves. We felt so protected! She was a rockstar and went above and beyond! She documented everything for everyone! No one expected her to go so far for us. We truly felt like a family by the end of it all. We were sad to leave but were so grateful to have gone on this tour and to have encountered Randalyn, who really was the best part of the tour. Until we meet again my...

George was an excellent guide! It was great hearing about his experiences in Maui as a former midwesterner. The hike itself is not very challenging and has amazing views with accessible waterfalls to jump from. I’d do this tour again!
