Cooper-Young Gallery + Gift Shop — Local services in Memphis

Cute little store. We stopped by looking for one thing. I was so happy that when we stopped by an hour before the posted closing time on a Sunday afternoon, she was still open and kind-hearted!

Since COVID, many stores close/leave early (understandable). So when we drove out of way 30 mins to stop by for one thing, I was very thankful and delighted with the selection, the location (Midtown area which is a cute little boutique district), the quality of gift products, paper products, books. Many were from local artists.

She had a large selection (some witty, cerebral humor, some current trendy genZ) of water bottle stickers, magnets and matching notebooks, notecards! Very fun selection. Also a nice assortment of Memphis stickers for those passing thru.

Her book selection was more vast, spread out across 3 rooms with room to sift through leisurely. She also had some unique candles/incense, mugs, earrings, artisan glass plates and ceramic bowls, colorful party goods like napkins & paper plates, and soft outdoor (cotton?) blankets, and nice quality artist gift sets. This small shop has a remarkably rich and meticulously curated collection of books, objects, cards and gifts focusing on art, design and graphics. This focus is carried over into every detail of the shop itself and its fixtures. The proprietor has also made a significant effort to showcase recent work by women and minorities in these fields that have been heavily dominated by men. Could have spent many more hours and dollars here exploring in more depth and collecting more wonderful references and beautiful things to take home, but there’s only so much space in the Airstream. This was honestly one of my most pleasant shopping experiences of all time :) Their website is very easy to navigate to choose and purchase what you need (I got a nice candle, but I was also eyeing the baby stuff for a future gift that I’ll get there). I selected the pickup option, and I was offered several nice gift bags to select from, and the adorably-wrapped gift was placed outside for my pickup in about ten minutes.
