First Off I have never made a review on anything in my life. I’ve been coming here since 2016 very regularly! At least once a week and last year I was coming a 6-8 times a month. Last night will be the last time we ever come or take our friends here. Last year was the first time I ever had an issue. It was the bartender being extremely rude to me trying to order at the bar while playing pool. I never went back to the bar after that Bc it’s always the same woman behind the bar and she has the worst attitude with everyone. So I started sitting in booths to eat then go stand to play pool. No biggie. Then about a month ago we went and the waitress told it’s the kitchen closed at 1030 last call was 10. It was 1015. So we went to leave and walked outside to hear people having their order taken. Confused, I asked about the kitchen she said it didn’t close till 11 like it has since I started coming there. Go back in to sit down and asked the other waiter what’s going on so he called the waitress over and she said she thought it was 1100. When she just told us the kitchen closed at 1030 and last call was 1015. She’s shaking as she is trying to explain what happened. We quickly realized she lied to make us leave!!!! Then last night nobody came to our table so I went to the bar to get a water and the bartender was so rude she gave me hot water that melted every piece of ice in the cup. That water was HOT. My bf took it back up there Bc at this point I’m tired of dealing with her. While he tries to explain to the man that the women has a bad attitude every time we come he tells my bf that he isn’t going to let him talk bad about his staff. Then him, the bartender, and the waitress from the other incident stood at the bar looking at us while they talked about us. The place is so unprofessional and if you don’t fit into their esthetic they will be mean asl to you! I literally have only seen Two staff that aren’t white. (I’ma white female but the people I go there with are a diverse group) One woman waitressed for one night and they gave her bad food so she would get bad tips. I wish I could find her to confirm this is what happened but Ik! The food she brought out to every table looked like nothing I had ever seen there. I really hope the owner replaces these people with better staff so that everyone can come here and be accepted and respected Bc the people working there now is going to KILL...
Read moreFor all the negative reviews, I would say this- Young Ave. Deli is a dive bar, if you want perfect service find a fancy cocktail bar or something. Context needs to be considered before you rip a place apart in a review!!!!! I was here many years ago and just recently returned multiple times. Is the service perfect? No. Do they have an amazing tap/bottle beer list? YES!!!!!! Is the food amazing? Not really, but those mozzarella sticks are pretty incredible when you're sipping a beer. Is the atmosphere here fun/crazy? You bet your @!& it is!!!! I've been here 3 times in the past month and I've had only one negative interaction with a staff member, all the others have been great. And, almost every waitstaff person here has loved my dog and that means a lot. Sometimes they even bring her a bowl of water (when I forget to BYOB!) Their taplist isn't the best I've ever seen, but it's definitely one of the best in Memphis for sure. And their bottle list is incredible, with lots of Belgian options, and plenty of solid beers from U.S. craft breweries. So, for the beer savvy this place can't be beat. My biggest pro for Young Ave. Deli is the patio. They are dog friendly and there just aren't that many places in Memphis that are, so that places them pretty high in my opinion. Furthermore, that patio can become a scene really quick. On my most recent visit my dog and I witnessed an outrageous party of drunken revelers on the patio. The atmosphere was really fun and everyone was having a great time. If you plan on visiting this bar/pub/grill my advice is this: Enter knowing you're in a dive bar, but one with great beer, cool people, and...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I went out to Young Avenue Deli with a few of our friends while we visited Memphis. We tried to come to the Deli before a few months back, but the place was so packed that there wasn't anywhere to sit. We were lucky this time though, and this experience enlightened us on why the Deli was so busy in the first place. First of all, the vibe of the Deli was great. There was a stage for live music, pool tables and foosball. The vintage signs and bar really gave it the deli vibe. Our waitress was incredibly laid back, which I appreciated about the bar/deli atmosphere. The food is what really made this trip worth it. The pimento cheese fries were honestly life changing. The thick cheese stayed gooey as we devoured the fries, unlike other cheese fries where the cheese slides off the fries or it's too little of an amount, there was also a perfect balance of cheese and fry in every bite. The sandwiches were also mind blowing. This was probably the best Chicken Philly I have ever had in my life. The chicken was cooked not in thin shavings which makes it easy for it to come out dry, but instead it was cooked in medium bites, which kept the chicken moist. This paired with the melted mozzarella, onions, mushrooms and bell peppers all on toasted bread made it. My boyfriend enjoyed the muffuletta, and so did I, granted it was a close second to my Chicken Philly. The olive spread on the muffuletta was the best thing about the sandwich, in my opinion. It brought a sense of sweetness to the sandwich which I enjoyed. Overall, I can't wait to go to...
