Not typically a huge seafood fan, but this restaurant brought depth to their dishes! The hoisin meatballs alongside the pickled shrimp and whipped feta to start was 10/10. Entrees didn’t wow me as much. The barramundi over the creamed corn was pretty disappointing. Huge piece of fish over a full plate of corn.. the corn was very overpowering. I still left feeling satisfied, mostly due to the atmosphere. It was very cozy while still feeling upscale. The rainy night made it even better, as though we were invited into a fisherman’s home to shelter from the storm. One last thing I’ll add is that we went here for our anniversary dinner and marked that in our reservation but it wasn’t brought up by the server. I wouldn’t recommend going here with the expectation of feeling “celebrated”. Nevertheless, the location and atmosphere will bring me back.

Exceptional, we loved it! We have the meatball appetizer (yum) and the potstickers - the dough was light and buttery and the potstickers were just the right amount of spicy. My son had the black bean soup, it was such a lovely creamy texture. I had the sea bass, it was cooked perfectly. My fam said the fish tacos were awesome, and I tasted the pasta myself, it was perfect! Desert was also amazing - we shared the creme brulee and the carrot cake was perfect. Our only critique was the flourless chocolate cake, it was a little too cocoa flavored, not rich, more bitter. I stand by "exceptional" because that one flub had no affect on our enjoyment of the meal, the atmosphere, and the wonderful service!

We went to Tsunami over the weekend for the first time, and we loved it! I ordered the roasted sea bass on black Thai rice, and it is hands down one of my favorite seafood entrees I have ever had. The cocktails were great, and the desserts were delicious. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Our server (I wish I knew his name!) was so nice and attentive during our entire dining experience. We went to Tsunami before attending a broadway show, and he was extremely thoughtful to ask what time our show started so that he could make sure we were finished with dinner in time. I highly recommend Tsunami!

Tuesday is for Tacos and Tsunami met the challenge. I visited this establishment for the first time to meet my mentor for dinner. This blue oasis (color of the restaurant) is located in the heart of Cooper Young. My mentor enjoyed the evenings signature cocktail and wasabi deviled eggs for an appetizer. They were so good, she ordered another round for me. If you love eggs and if you like deviled eggs, you will appreciate this cool spin on a traditional deviled egg. The wasabi isn't overpowering or too spicy, but definitely adds a level of flavor to the dish.

For the entrée I enjoyed the fish tacos. I loved the flavor in the spicy lemongrass slaw. It was delicious. The aioli put this dish over the top. My mentor is gluten free and enjoyed the spice crusted tuna on cucumber salad with wasabi vinaigrette. She orders this every single time and per usual Tsunami delivered an amazing dish.

The wait staff was extremely attentive. Our waitress also recommended the fish tacos, so she gets extra brownie points. The establishment has some parking, but it is extremely limited. Street parking is going to be your best option. Unless it is a weekend or happy hour, you should be able to park on the street fairly close by the restaurant. I look forward to...

I decided to try this place out on a first date I was really excited for and I decided to put in the reservation that it was a first date. The waitress, who's name I sadly can't remember, came to get our drink orders in an appropriately timely manner and seemed keenly aware of the fact we were taking our time and that looking at the menu was going to take some time 😂. I'm a bartender so I'm very picky over my cocktails and both I ordered were actually AMAZING so they definitely have a knowledgeable bartender. The food was simple, in a very elegant way. Each dish had a personality and it knew how to express it. The atmosphere was also just so wonderful. Understated, with a little chic modernity, just enough to still feel inspired rather than derivative. The sound of the restaurant stood out to me a lot. Great music choice, and the sound dampening is perfect. Just enough of the bustle gets through to remind you you're sharing moments with strangers, but also just perfect to make you and your date feel like the only two people that matter in that moment. Please give this venue a shot, they will not disappoint and they deserve your money for...

Tsunami is somewhat of a hidden Memphis treasure.

Though it’s right in the heart of the Cooper-Young district, it can look like a blip, when you’re driving down Cooper Street.

However, in my humble opinion, this restaurant is no blip on the radar. It’s a tsunami.

It’s a cozy spot for a nice date night or maybe a little pre-gaming at the bar.

It’s a total neighborhood favorite.

The service is such that you feel like you’re at home and everyone is family. Very easygoing atmosphere with nicely muted lighting.

The food does not disappoint. Many dishes are Asian-inspired, like the wasabi deviled eggs. They offer small plates and regular entrees. This is a good restaurant for fish dishes.

It’s a place where you won’t leave totally stuffed and weighed down, but your culinary needs will still be completely satisfied.

Oh. The desserts are pretty good. Including sorbets, crème brûlée and chocolate stout cake.

The patio is intimate, yet fun for people watching.

This restaurant is a total win in my eyes!! Put it...
