This is a long one sorry, but... Kroger is about to get on my last nerve for real.
Today I went in and tried to return a few hygiene products that were irritating and breaking out my skin. I could tell the lady seemed apprehensive as soon as she could tell what I wanted to return. But out of some glimmer of hope she reluctantly proceeded to try to return my items. I stuck the card in I purchased the items with after waiting for her to see if I could have an option of cash or credit but she just said with no manners "you gunna stick your card in?"🙄... I said oh! Sure! Now mind you the card I used is a SNAP card and most people don't have cash on them, just food money... I had used my cash money on this card for these items, and she told me, your using a food card on regular items and I proceeded to explain; not sure if she was quite convinced, she definitely didnt seem to care one bit. I tried my card twice and it acted like it was working because it asked me cash or food and if the amount was correct. As soon as it did that it just ended, I could almost swear she wasn't doing something right on her side but she didn't seem to think oh this is a card I don't usually see, maybe there is a slightly different process to it. She didn't even seem like she wanted to even figure it out if she could, she had no feelings towards it other than to try to get me out of there ASAP. Mind you also I waited very patiently behind a man who took at least 10 minutes, probably longer with several cash transfers and what not. She didnt even have half that patience for me, no time of day. So I asked her couldn't I get regular cash back then, I have my ID and obvious proof that I was the one to purchase it. She said because it was over 20$, it was a 33$ refund, and because it'd been over a month, which when I got home I had a feeling I had to make sure and she was wrong, it had been almost a month!!! (Purchased June 9) But I don't know that it'd even matter to bring it up, because she just seemed like she would have some other reason up her sleeve as to why I can't get my return.
I have also had a very similar problem awhile back at the other Kroger on Dexter and Germantown, probably a bit worse because the manager ended up coming out and being really rude to me. BUT she did eventually give me back my small return even though she kept threatening me not to like in some sort of weird power struggle as I was just trying to voice my concerns and questions about the policy, it really got under her skin, and it wasn't her about her obviously.
And so tell me how come with target, costco and even sprouts they don't make this big of a deal, like I've never had issues like this with them, but both recent times I've tried to return things to Krogers they aren't helpful one bit, they just look at me like i am crazy!
And one more thing about the store atmosphere experience, please take that horrible intercom message about top of the hour conditioning. It is such a traumatic word in general because time and time again it had been used in environments to gain real control of people in dictatorships and mental institutions and even in 2020-22 when the world was going through extremely traumatic times of covid quarantine. It definitely feels and sounds like I'm in a concentration camp when I'm in there and ruins my whole shopping trip and even my day. I can't be the only one who has ptsd from the horrible repetitive message... I've even noticed in some other Krogers in east TN, they got rid of it.
Please have some real genuine consideration for your...
Read more12/8/23 The poorest customer service I’ve ever received from a Kroger in my life. I get I walked in 13 minutes before it closed, but my brother’s funeral is tomorrow and I had a last minute request from my parents to make cheesecakes for the repast. I got to the checkout before 11:00. One young lady was trying her hardest to accommodate all 3 of us who had minor issues at the register, the older woman walked away when one of the customers walked out, and the young man, he was of no help. Why come over the intercom with more than one count down announcement if you’re in no hurry to assist customers to get them out? The one experienced woman had a poor attitude within reason, and the young man working said, “why get all the stuff if you can’t pay for it,” in regards to the man who walked out. The guy behind me, we were talking about leaving our stuff too because the customer service was so poor. The young man who made the comment, should’ve never said that. You don’t know what people go through. Maybe he accidentally forgot his wallet and didn’t realize it. If you come to this store, don’t come after 10:40pm because they’re rude and don’t know how to properly deal with the territory that comes with customer service. I get it though, everyone can’t have a, “my pleasure,” attitude. Everyone has bad days and today was mine, and they didn’t make it any better. The young girl was really trying though. Moved a little slow, but was the only useful one tonight. Teamwork would have had us out by 11:00...
Read moreI have always shopped at Kroger. Before it was across the street. Before then, I had to travel to Bartlett to shop. Never an issue. But this self check out mess...
1st- Most of the time you have to check your own self out. 2nd- Self check out's take away jobs from checkers. 3rd- Usually, you get a small discount at the company you work for.
Using a self check out, that company is getting free labor and giving no discount, because your not employed there. Though it's not that hard of a job, I was not trained to use a cash register, at that location. And with the prices nowadays.... Not to mention, someone may need a job. I will always go to where the cashier is, if there is one. I won't care if that line is wrapped around the store. Though I do feel bad for the cashier's, because they put up with a lot. I will always be respectful, try to make them smile and always bag and load my own cart for them, just to make it easier. Because there is usually 1 or 2 working, if your lucky. It's not the cashier's fault, it is the companies fault. I can only imagine how much theft might go on in those stores....
