Paradox at PeCo — Local services in Memphis

Used to love visiting the store and looking at the trinkets and artwork displayed and sold. But what I don’t like is being supervised like I’m a toddler that doesn’t know how to look or touch things. If worried about something being broken or damaged, place in an area only you can handle and show customers. I like to shop in peace and look at my own pace. I don’t need some chick breathing down my neck “fixing” everything I touch or trying to tell me everything about everything, or acting as if I’m gonna pocket every item I touch.

The last couple of times I’ve come here the other employees haven’t been as invasive and I’ve appreciated their help from a distance. This time though, some white woman who was fairly tall and had dyed hair, can’t remember the color and of heavier build was soooo intrusive and I kid you not, right behind me in the entire store. Just watching my every move. Like hello?? It’s like she had a stick up her arse. Sorry, just was so ridiculous I was baffled to say the least. I left immediately cause she obviously wasn’t gonna leave us alone. And she was pretty passive aggressive as well.

Appreciate the enthusiasm but when you’re constantly supervising customers it doesn’t feel like you even want them to buy anything. BUY ON ETSY A LOT OF THE THINGS THEY SELL ARE ON THERE FOR HALF THE PRICE AS WELL. Just do a quick photo google search. No ones breathing down your neck or acting like you’ll steal...

I made my first visit here with my husband today, and I can honestly say this is the best, most beautiful and unique store I have ever seen. That’s saying a lot because shopping for tasteful oddities is one of my special interests and I’m a dedicated hunter. I loved every single item in the room, the way it was laid out, decorated, and merchandised; it smelled fantastic (their own signature scent, which they have for sale in multiple formats). Whoever does the buying is a genius. The staff was lovely and warm. I’m only sorry I can’t send in every person I’ve ever met because I don’t live here, but I’m sure I’ll make up for that just fine all by myself. I can’t stress enough how awesome this place is.
