I am providing a 3-star review because although I love Playhouse very much and think the artistic and cultural programming put on at the venue is PHENOMENAL, I feel I should warn senior citizens about a hidden fee in the ticket prices. My mother is on a fixed income and wanted to buy a senior ticket at the advertised cost of $20, but upon trying multiple ways to purchase the ticket, she was told by the box office that there is always a 25% āprocessing feeā for this ticket, whether you purchase online or in-person. This makes the actual cost of all senior tickets at Playhouse $25, not $20. I feel that advertising the ticket cost online for 25% less than it actually costs is somewhat deceptive on playhouseās part, and they wonāt even remove the fee if the senior citizen does the labor of coming to the box office to purchase a paper ticket themselves. I am just putting this out there so our senior citizen theater fan friends can appropriately budget their theatre-going experiences and not feel disappointed by a hidden fee! I hope playhouse changes the fee- the explanation that they give for it is that they switched online payment processors and the fee is a mandatory part of the payment processorās services, but I fail to see how this should apply to walk up cash purchases directly to the box office. That is the aspect that I believe playhouse has the power to control, and they default to blaming an anonymous payment processing company that patrons have no way to contact. Again I love the programming, my issue is with this financial service! Thanks...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited here with a friend for the first time to watch āA Closer Walk With Patsy Clineā this past weekend. What a nice, cozy theatre and the play was amazing! They REALLY did a great job portraying the life of Patsy Cline! As other reviews stated, there are no bad seats. We happened to sit on the front row but next time I think I will want to sit a little further back so I can scan the stage a little better. Still great seats, though. Since I was visiting from Texas and didnāt plan on having to wear āniceā clothes on this trip, I had to go buy some jeans which Iām glad I did because I would have felt out of place wearing running shorts. You could probably get by with a nice pair of khaki shorts but donāt know if I would go wearing your short shorts. I couldnāt locate a dress code anywhere posted on the website which is why Iām mentioning it now. They have a little concession stand that sells a few drinks, wine, and little snacks. Parking is good too. You can park in the nearby garage or on the side of the street for free like we did but keep in mind it is 2 hr maximum. We visited during the day and had no issues even after being parked there for 2.5 hours. If you park across the street you will get to walk across the Pride or Black Lives Matter crosswalks just outside...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlayhouse is a great example of what a local theatre is supposed to be. Talented local and regional actors perform quality, well known plays and musicals.
The seats are comfortable and the isles have plenty of footroom. The tiered rows provide good views no matter how tall the hair of the lady in front of you is. Also, there are no bad seats! On the floor or on upper levels, every seat has a good view. Also, the stage is wide and deep enough to put on a variety of shows and handle large sets. Also, They offer wine for $6 a glass which you can bring into the theatre.
Ticket prices are extremely reasonable. Their individual ticket pricing is usually only $20. They have a "pay what you can" night where you can get multiple tickets for great prices. Its the season tickets are the real prize. You buy a block of tickets that you can use however you want. Use two tickets each show or bring all your friends to a single show. Thats great...
