I took a basic welding class to make a barn star at the Garrison Speed Shop in Mendon, Massachusetts. I have never welded before or used some of the tools and equipment required. The template pieces were all laid out, but that was it. Co-founder Luke had me read and sign all the releases first, and asked about my experience with welding etc. Being a Veteran myself, Luke as well, and the non-profit supporting Veterans and First Responders, he also made sure to ask me if loud noises or anything would bother me. Every step was explained and demonstrated before I was able to do it, and as nervous as I was at first, it quickly went away knowing he took my safety, the safety of others as well as their shop very seriously. Co-founder Ben also provided some muscle when I was unable to bend the metal myself. In just over 2 hours I had sanded, measured, re-measured, bent , hammered and welded together a really cool one of a kind 5-sided barn star. It was definitely something different to do and it was a really cool and fun...
Read moreAs a veteran, I try to support as many organizations like the Garrison Speed Shop as I can. That being said, I don’t think I’ll ever take my bike to anyone else after the job they did. I have a 2015 softail slim custom and I wanted more out of my bike. I talked with Luke and the guys at GSS for about a month through phone calls and e-mails and they convinced me to bring my bike all the way from Missouri to Massachusetts to do some upgrades to the engine. They put a true dual exhaust, changed the cams, changed out the ECM to a thundermax, and all the small things that go with all of that. When it was done in just a few days, my Harley was a completely different bike. It runs better and angrier in every way. After all was done, my bike was better than I expected and I made some new friends. I knew I wanted my Harley to run better but they exceeded every expectation I had. I also got a tshirt, a hoodie, and some beanies from them. This shop is legit. Thank you GSS for doing your magic, I’m a customer...
Read moreBen and luke are fantastic guys to work with. As two vets running a non-profit you can really see the passion these guys put into their work. I saw them bang out a wire harness on this Harley for all these custom led lights that were being installed in the front fairing and where most mechanics would crimp, they sodererd every connection. Their attention to detail is bar none!!! I also started a welding class at G.S.S and they are super patient and don't mind taking the time to answering all of my questions. I came there to learn the basics and Luke and Ben have gone above and beyond what I expected to learn! Do yourself a favor and check out the shop.
Thanks again for everything...
