Mike's Art & Design Supply — Local services in Menomonie

It's close to Stout campus so easy access to supplies. Mike usually is pretty in touch with the professors at Stout so he usually carries a lot of the supplies needed for the classes near by. If you are just a hobby artist looking for supplies, I would check here first for anything you need. For school supplies I would say compare prices with other options, some of his stuff can be more expensive because it is a smaller store. And most required school supplies are not used often at Stout so if you don't need to use the items a lot, make sure to check other places too. Everytime I needed to find something there though, people are always available to help and can answer my questions. If I don't see something there, Mike has always been willing to help and bring it in. I have noticed that the workers that aren't Mike can be pretty unethusiastic though and have negative attitude when helping which isn't great. I really like supporting local art supply stores like Mike's that are a rare find, so if you are willing to spend an extra dollar on a few things, go for it! Support the locals! FYI for Stout apparel design students, don't go to Mike's for apparel related supplies (sewing), he does not carry a lot of supplies needed for ADD anymore. 10 STARS!!!!!! Mike was great. I happened to find the store on a chance break during a recent trip. I like to shop local as much as possible. Glad I did. He was very helpful! I had stop drawing so long ago Staedtler wasn’t known and Berol Turquiose mechanical pencils were cutting edge. Totally encouraging. He took the time to explain various models and brands. Gave me some great insights. Including cost and supply issues with each. I have never seen such a range of just 0.5mm lead on a shelf before. One of each please! How many kinds of charcoal?!?!? Wow!!! I have looked up some of the other things on line and the service issues folks are having has me wanting to make the trip to Mike’s when I am ready to stock up. Good prices for a local store, but if those are a concern for you, online may be slightly cheaper depending on the item. Customer service is great, they'll help you find items or check stock if they're out on the floor. If you're taking a class at Stout, they have packs for specific classes that give you a good chunk of what you need for the course, which is much more convenient than tracking down a million pens and pencils.
