Food: B+ Wait staff: A Atmosphere: B Management: D- see me after class.
I used to like Log Jam.
It is a great place to eat. The burgers and other food fare are overpriced and don't even ask for a drink menu unless you have some extra twenties to spare. It's a popular college hangout so it will get packed in the evenings around bar time.
But I always overlooked that because when you sat down and ate their food the taste is worth it. Or it was.
The cooks actually care about the taste of the food as much as their presentation, and their hard work shows well when you take a first bite.
The wait staff are delightful and work to earn your tips, very attentive to their table's needs. When I've bothered to sit and eat they've made sure I never go unattended.
The main issue is that the management leaves something to be desired.
I personally normally eat take out, I either call ahead and ask for what I want, or stop in and order quickly, stay quiet and wait at the bar for my food. Normally they offer some type of condiments to go. One of my personal favorites is their barbeque sauce.
I know it's bulk bought and placed into little cups but it's tasty and it delighted me to have it with my meal. It was one of those extra special touches that just made it that much more special to have food from Log Jam.
Now I know it's not to much to ask for a few extra cups of 2oz of bulk bought bbq sauce but for some reason it had to be a big deal this time. Maybe if I had asked for more than 6 cups I could see it being a fair issue to contest but I didn't and it still was an issue for their management.
As far as I understand being a take out customer means that I'm not taking any of your servers time, not taking up table space, and not making loud revelry with a large group of friends and disrupting the experience of others in the restaurant.
Fairly accurate assessment I'd wager.
It doesn't take much but usually a sour experience with management ruins the appeal of an establishment.
I used to be a friend to Log Jam, encouraging others to eat there, maintaining that the often inflated drink prices compared to other places around town were not all that bad, and even suggesting it to my betters as a stand up place and all around good eatery focused on delighting the customer.
It distresses me that this doesn't seem to be the case anymore and also makes me wonder about what ELSE the management is trying to skimp on.
You haven't made an enemy of me Log Jam, but you have...
Read moreLog Jam has a reputation with myself and my family as being a good, tasty place to eat. We ventured out to have a late lunch, and regrettably, were disappointed. We ordered the Coconut Shrimp appetizer ($15) and split it three ways. It was overcooked, and upon inspection, beneath the breading, the shrimp was green, which is not the color you want to see on shrimp or seafood. The waiter did not seem to be bothered by this at all. I should have taken pictures, but did not. We ordered 2 burgers and were not asked how we wanted them cooked. They came out very pink, almost bloody. We are a medium rare family, so did not complain, but I can see how someone would be upset by this. Again, the waiter did not ask how we wanted them cooked. The fries were good. The cheese curds that came with the Chicken Strip sandwich, were overdone to the point where the cheese inside was overcooked and tough. I felt the waiter had an attitude with us from the start. I, and my family, were overall disappointed with the experience, from service to the food. Very surprising. I don't know if we will be making a return visit anytime soon. Also, I was given a 15% discount on the green shrimp, which seemed a little too little, given that green shrimp could be dangerous. The store will be receiving a call as myself, and my 2 children, did share them. We are just hoping they were cooked thoroughly enough to not get a food-borne illness. Very...
Read moreI have been here numerous times and enjoyed but have to give them a one star today. After asking for a seat outside we were told nothing available. We were seated inside however could see through the door tables were available? Maybe not enough servers however I counted 4-5 at least. Restaurant was not busy in my opinion. We were greeted promptly and got water and drinks pretty quick. We put in our order withing 10 minutes after being seated. We now enter the ignore the customer part. Server did not check on waters, drinks, food for 20 minutes. We did get waters refilled, didn't say anything about food order. She came back another 20 minutes later and said food would be right up. After an HOUR we finally received our food. French Dip sandwich was cold, Au Jus sauce was cold, fries were cold, chicken tenders overcooked. Server didn't even apologize on wait time for the food. I also witnessed one customer find their server to give them their bill and another customer find a server to refill water. We will find another establishment next time...
