Mequon Trail Townhomes — Local services in Mequon

Been living here roughly 30 days now, and I can say with certainty that the move in experience was the worst I’ve had so far. Especially given how much I moved during my 11 years active duty.

Started with consultant Alison and throughout the process she was fast to note documents I missed submitting but gave a kind of scoffed response when I asked why I wasn’t informed of receiving the key until 10am move-in day….her words verbatim were, “well, I’m telling you now”.

Immediately removed her from my lease.

Add that with the amount of times she kept recommending me other units instead of the one specific unit layout I wanted. having to remind Alison to check for any veteran benefits as last they checked was 2+ years ago. (There was/is a program, just like every other rental) no reimbursement if my movers ended up sitting at my unit waiting for the cleaners to be done, which were scheduled at 9am move in day…. Garage wasn’t cleaned nor swept or even dusted Webs on ceiling still, vents, even a roach/bug was even found immediately after the cleaners left. (They were barely leaving after I already got the keys at around 10:20am)

First interactions gave off the impressions of management checking the boxes versus actually preparing the unit for a new tenant.

Thankfully, I met with the Community Manager Mr. Wynn Culver, and Asst. Community Manager Mr. Timothy Cross. -community manager left after 2 months of this review.

The community itself is amazing, unfortunately people have no common sense and seem to think walking on the road gives them the right of way because they don’t want to walk/ run on the gravel sidewalk.

Edited from 2 to 1 Star- water leaves yellow stains in both toilets and shower due to the water pressure. Clean and it’ll come right back a few days later. Also confirmed with multiple neighbors. If I could rate it...

I’ve lived in Mequon Trails since April 2023. I sold my house quickly and needed to find a place to live asap. I was moving from a large home in Fox Point and was used to privacy and quiet. This was the first time I was to be renting in over 22 years. After looking at a few new luxury apartments in Mequon and Cedarburg, I came upon Mequon Trails. I had no idea it existed. A place with all rental townhomes in a quiet, secluded area?! I chose a 2 bdrm, 2 story home with an extremely large green space as my backyard, sandwiched between the pool and tennis court- heaven! Alison (the leasing agent) was so kind and helpful. My home is spacious and I love having my own attached 2 car garage. I was amazed by the price and size compared to those crowded, “luxury finish” apts, which mostly overlooked parking lots. One day, I was out and about for six hours. I arrived home and realized I’d left both my overhead garage door and door to my home open. Not a thing was missing. Talk about safety 🤗! Yes, some things in my unit are a bit dated, but nothing my artwork and personal touches couldn’t compensate for. If I have an issue with anything, maintenance has been incredibly responsive. More pluses: huge master bdrm fits my king bed, friendly and diverse neighbors, walls so thick I can only occasionally hear a vacuum next door, walking distance to Foxtown, Mequon Public Market and St Paul’s Fish Company, a space near my patio to plant a garden, large windows. I could go on. Negatives: I have a Southern facing unit which gives me gorgeous sunlight. However, the high ceilings upstairs prevent the ac from cooling the home well. Also, the water is hard, thus the toilets get limey. I had to adjust to a shower/ tub rather than a stand alone shower. These “negatives” are nothing in comparison to all the positives. Our long journey began in March when we planned to move from Illinois to Wisconsin and, unfortunately, came across Mequon Trailhomes. Here is a list of issues we encountered while communicating with the property management:

They were unresponsive to emails and phone calls. We requested both verbally and via email to have my husband's name listed as the primary tenant, as he is the sole earner in our family, but they never did. We inquired about the first-month-free promotion, but only received a response three days before our move-in date, informing us that the promotion had ended in mid-March. The management emphasized that without written proof, we would not be eligible for the promotion. It was disappointing to learn this so late. We requested to move in on Saturday, March 29, 2025, but they did not agree and pushed us to move in on Friday, despite their website indicating they are open on Saturdays. When we agreed to move in on Friday, they only offered an 11 AM time slot, which was difficult for us to manage, given that we were moving from Chicago with 18-month-old twins, furniture, and all our belongings. Moving day was made unnecessarily complicated. Three days prior, a staff member who was seemingly trying to help informed us that our townhome was already occupied by other tenants. My husband asked what we could do, and she told us to either cancel or choose another unit. At that moment, we were already packing in Chicago. It took several hours to realize that this was a misunderstanding. No need to said that we failed to moved in Wisconsin in March and had to paid penalty to moving company. After nearly six weeks of trying to get our deposit back, I finally received it today. Overall our experience was frustrated and...
