Merced College — Local services in Merced

The instructors that I have in a nursing program do not care about what you may be going through. They may say they care and are there to help you, but if you approach them confidentially with a personal issue they will announce it to the entire class and even use a demeaning word like “I received a WEIRD text” when you were really just trying to seek help or their understanding. Or if you tell them you are having such a serious matter of depression they respond with something like “keep your head up” and then they don’t even try to actually help you. That is how children and students end up committing suicide because even when they seek help from teachers they’re not taken seriously. So I suggest that if you are going through some serious depression or have any conflict in class with peers etc that you do NOT approach them and either contact a school counselor, a friend, family, anyone else. It’s really sad, especially when you thought you could trust your instructors or peers. Nothing is ever kept confidential in these classes now days....

I would give this school zero stars if it was possible. I started college last semester and was told that I would receive financial aid to cover my tuition as long as I enrolled in a certain number of credits. Partway through the year they informed me I did NOT get financial aid and I owed them over $2000. I requested to be able to drop one class to be able to afford the sudden bill and though they allowed me to drop, they didn't tell me that the date was already past to drop without owing dues. This school has stolen $2000 from someone who actually needed assistance. I have tried all means to petition this because it was THEIR error for giving me all of the paperwork saying I got financial aid. I even had a lawyer write to the dean and it was still denied. DO NOT TRUST THE PEOPLE THEY HIRE TO INFORM YOU ABOUT YOUR DUES. I had three separate forms they had me fill out accepting the aid and then they stripped it away without giving me any other option but to pay. This school is corrupt and I wouldn't trust them to...

I love Merced College! Compared to Madera College, it’s a lot bigger than the College in Madera. Some of the staff is rude, others are not. I love a lot of the proffesors that teach here, some just don’t care and aren’t helpful. The programs are great and they have many resources to help you succeed in the school. The parking is ridiculous, the staff have all the good parking spots. They should leave the good parking spots for students. It’s hard to find a parking spot! The campus is very clean, and I love the vibe I get, going into campus. In all, it’s been a great place to learn and to succeed in your dreams. I’ve had a good experience here, I know some have not.
