I have lived at Nemoke for almost two years and would recommend it. Overall I think it is a very nice apartment complex.
Pros: The location is very nice – right next to several restaurants and places to shop. The trails that run through the area are also very close and nice. When I moved in everything was smooth for the most part – all I had were minor maintenance fixes that need to be done and they were all taken care of promptly. Any maintenance request I've had was taken care of quickly since I've lived here as well. It's a very quiet complex, my building is at least. I'm walking around the area often and never hear raging parties – sometimes people will listen to music a little loudly but nothing disturbing and I've never been kept up at night because of noise. Speaking of noise, I live on the bottom level and noise isn't much of a problem. Footsteps from people above are not noisy like some other places I have lived. I can hear pretty well what's going on in the hallway, outside, and sometimes in the bathroom but noise isn't bad – everybody is good about being respectful or I'm sure the management wouldn't mind telling people to keep it down if necessary as this is NOT a party complex. Oh, and sometimes when people are running their water it can be a little noisy, but that's the way most apartments are I feel. The office staff is very helpful and nice whenever I interact with them. I don't use them but they have a pool, volleyball court, a computer station, and I believe an exercise room (not sure on that one). It's a great place to have a pet as there are pet buildings, plus fields and trails close no matter which part of the complex you live in. The utilities are split between the building by square footage and number of residents – my total utility bill has always been under $100 (1 bedroom apartment with one tenant) which includes everything except electricity, internet, and TV (the latter two you have a choice in, it isn't one company for the complex).
Cons: The parking lot closest to my building is full sometimes. There is always a spot to park, it just might be on the street or a bit of a walk. It is convenient to have a laundry room (2 washers and 2 dryers, which are good machines, for a 12 unit building) but is a little pricey ($1.75 per load to wash, $1.75 per load to dry, but maybe that's just the going rate nowadays). There doesn't seem to be much control over the temperature of the apartment because I swear it doesn't matter what my thermostat is set at it doesn't change the temperature much or at all. Living on the bottom level it stays between 60 and 72 at really any given time (these are extremes when it is very hot or cold, it's mostly 65-68) which I'm fine with, I just imagine it gets hot on the higher levels at times but I don't know first hand. When it's very cold outside in winter and I turn my thermostat to 68 it will normally stay between 60 and 65.
TLDR: Very nice complex overall with very minor imperfections that you see at most apartment complexes. Highly...
Read morePoor experience overall with these apartments. Terrible quality units, poor management, policies are not clear at signing and prices are unreasonable for the quality you get. From past experience I highly recommend DTN management facilities over Monarch Investment. Upon moving in I noted that the ceilings looked like they were caving and requested a work order to have them repaired/resealed. When maintenance came in to assess, they determined that since the ceiling didn't appear to have water damage they were not at risk of caving and therefore, would not be doing anything to fix the sagging. Shortly after I completely moved in, I woke up to find my only bathroom ceiling was in the process of caving in and water was pouring in from the apartment above me. Maintenance came in swiftly to repair the damage, however, once the initial crisis was over, it took nearly a month for all the work to be completed. Management had poor follow up with the issue and it took until I requested another work order for the bathroom to be completed for it to finally be taken care of properly. We did not have further issues with the bathroom ceiling after this. After living there for a year and a half our kitchen ceiling started to cave in. This was also an issue I addressed at move in and maintenance stated that since no water damage occurred, they would not do anything to fix it as the drywall was not compromised. After the kitchen ceiling started to cave in more, on a daily basis water was leaking from the apartment above in a steady stream. Maintenance assessed the ceiling again and stated that it was due to the dog above us spilling their water bowl. ARE THINGS THAT POORLY CONSTRUCTED THAT IT ONLY TAKES A DOG SPILLING THEIR WATER BOWL TO HAVE A STREAM OF WATER RUNNING INTO MY KITCHEN DAILY? Again, nothing was done about this issue while we resided there. I assume it was due to the fact that we were moving soon and why fix something if they can leave it for the next person broken? Poor quality management in my opinion. We had constant issues with community members walking their dogs off leash. Though this is not necessarily managements fault, I believe more strict punishment needs to be done in order to dissuade this. Feces never seemed to be picked up as well, as I always seemed to be stepping in it when I took my dogs out. Parking was always an issue. They don't provide parking permits, therefore anyone and any vehicle can park in their lots. Most of the time I was forced to park in the street due to the lots near my building being completely full. This is terribly inconvenient, especially with what I was paying to live there. I would highly suggest assigning parking spots or providing permits in the future. The only positive is they are pet friendly with fair breed requirements/restrictions which was the problem I had when looking at other apartment locations. I would not recommend this property management to anyone and certainly not...
Read moreHello! This may be long, but I hope it’s helpful. The ;tldr is that I love Nemoke Trails Apartments and I highly recommend it. For reference, I’ve been here for about 8 months.
First off, the office staff is very friendly and open. They are approachable and deal with any concern promptly. The clubhouse is clean and features coffee/creamers/hot chocolate, TV and sitting space, indoor pool, and cute little workout area (may not be the best for individuals more serious in their fitness routines, but has the basics). They just introduced little fobs instead of a passcode to get into the pool and gym areas when the clubhouse isn’t open. They also have a sand volleyball net, which I will be checking out in the summer!
The location is ideal. It’s quiet, close to multiple parks, and clean. There are a few different trails that my puppy and I love to walk down. It’s close to a school, but the traffic from it isn’t ever bad. It’s close (like within a mile) to Kroger, Walmart, Home Depot, restaurants, Target, Meijer. It’s also within 15-20 minutes of MSU and downtown Lansing.
The area feels very safe, even if you decide to walk the trails at night. The neighbors are all friendly.
Maintenance is amazing. Any time I have put in a request, they are there to fix it same day (often within a few hours). They’re happy to answer any questions you might have. They clear the snow quickly during the winter. I’ve been thoroughly impressed.
They allow all size dogs. This is good and bad. Good because dogs. Bad because there is the potential for people to let their dogs bark. I haven’t had this problem too much, and office staff is prompt to respond if there is a complaint. It is written in the pet agreement that they are not allowed to let their dogs bark, so they’ll talk to the resident if there’s any issues.
The only down sides to Nemoke is the laundry and air conditioning. There are two washers and two dryers in my building, and I have never had a problem getting one when I wanted it. But the price is 1.75 per load, which I think is a little high and inconvenient. But this might be something out of their hands. The buildings are a little older so the air conditioning consists of a wall-unit that you can turn on, and it worked just fine for me last summer. I wouldn’t call these deal-breakers.
Their payment system is easy to set up and use, but if you’re technologically challenged like me, they will help you~ They know who is good about paying on time, so if a payment doesn’t go through for some reason, they will let you know before you get some crazy late fee. Or at least, that’s how it was for me. I’ve been very pleased with their online payment system.
This place is managed by Monarch currently. If you’re looking at multiple places, it’ll be important for you to pay attention to who is managing the property. Monarch has been great. My advice is- Look for the deals and...
