Candance & Design Remodeling — Local services in Merton

We started work with Candance & Design in January of 2022 after meeting with Candy personally, months before, to work out a remodel plan for our home. Candy was kind, knowledgeable, and listened to everything we were throwing at her. We wanted an updated, brighter, and more functional space for our growing family and her renderings were all of those things and more. We loved being able to see our space transform virtually and make changes as needed until it was perfect. Candy was always open and willing to make any changes along the way, even when we changed the initial layout more than once! She never seemed to worry about any issues, and always had a solution for anything we brought up.

Throughout the process, we added a few things on and ended up remodeling basically our entire home inside and out. As always, there were some hiccups along the way. Our project was projected to be completed in May, but went over that deadline by about three months due to some scheduling conflicts, project delays/changes, miscommunication, and materials being backordered. The biggest struggle for us throughout the project was the miscommunication, we felt that our wants/concerns/needs weren't always heard, or they were heard but not relayed correctly, resulting in frustration for everyone. We also felt very repetitive in communicating things because it seemed as though not everyone was on the same page at times.

Most of the subcontractors were great, with a few exceptions. We stopped in often to check on progress and every time we encountered someone, they were more than happy to talk to us and even answered questions and concerns we had or talked about changes with us and Candy or Cole. Candy and her team are all excellent and the nicest people to work with. They also were always available when we had questions or concerns. Our daughter had her first birthday during our renovation, and they were so thoughtful in bringing her a little gift!

Overall, our home is beautiful inside and out. The craftsmanship is excellent and the designs that Candy and her team at Candance & Design worked on to make our home what we needed it to be are perfect. We appreciate the months of hard work put into our home and will enjoy it for...

Our remodel project resulted in adding 1400sqft of finished space in our basement. Candy's attention to detail on the initial design is what sold us - one example: she noticed our dogs were an important part of the family and included dog beds in the virtual rendering! It's a small example but demonstrated that she really understood what we wanted our new space to be and that our visions were aligned. Candy was also able to use innovative solutions to incorporate features that other builders told us were impractical or downright impossible.

Our project ran a bit longer than scheduled. Some of the overrun was us changing our mind or altering the plan once we could actually stand in our space and some of it was delays in scheduling. Overall, not a big deal, simply made the overall experience good/great instead of outstanding.

Several of Candy's sub-contractors were outstanding. The team that installed our egress windows was top-notch. And our finish carpenter not only did excellent work, he also helped with several suggestions along the way that greatly improved the livability of our space. Overall, we are very pleased with our new space. Candy was successful in translating our shared vision to reality.

She and her team were admirably responsive throughout the project. Rare is the contractor who will actually pick up your call whether it is call #1 or call #1000. Even more important than that was the fact that issues or questions were addressed promptly. Good news or bad news, we at least had the latest updates as soon as possible.

Our project had a few bumps in the road. Candy and her team were able to navigate those detours and keep things moving forward. The path was a little longer than we anticipated but again, overall we are happy with the end result. We have a beautiful new space that is quickly becoming the focal point...

What a transformation! A year ago I was standing in my kitchen fretting about the duct tape on the floor, the cracks in the countertops, and drips from the faucet. Today - no more duct tape! I have a beautiful, wide-open space with more storage than I thought possible in my small home. All of this is thanks to Candance & Design. I am especially thankful to Candy and her design team who helped me create a space that went beyond just fixing up cracks and leaks. I was most impressed with how Candy and her design team were able to look at my space and offer solutions I would not have been able to foresee on my own. Also appreciated was the fact that Candy would personally contact me at times when my old home showed its age and unexpected obstacles presented themselves. She was able to offer multiple solutions, keeping in mind that I needed to stick within a budget. If I could improve one aspect of the remodel experience, it would be to make better use of the Buildertrend app. I was excited about all of the features it offered - scheduling, logs, & selections, all at your fingertips. However, I found it was not updated as I anticipated and extra messaging was needed. My kitchen is now a place I am proud to share with guests. No longer do they need to stay in the living room or hang out on the outdoor deck. My kitchen is a place to gather. It would not be infused with the personality or openness it now has if I had worked with a different company. I feel confident recommending Candy and Candance & Design to those like me who are in need of, but unsure how to go about managing a home...
