UPDATED COMMENTS: Haircut by Sadie on Jan 18th 2025. Showered again, and am appalled by the realization that this haircut is even worse than I first thought.
Looking at other reviews, Sadie has glowing comments, but they're from people who spent over $150-$200 with her. So I don't know if she was too tired to care that day, or if a simple $30 cut wasn't worth her attention, but the level of ineptitude coming from someone who claims on their personal comment to have her favorite cuts be "any kinds of edgy, layered haircuts and any kind of vivid colors or funky color placements" - which would otherwise indicate a high level of skill - is infuriating.
I would much rather include pictures, so others could see exactly why I'm so flabbergasted by the results which she let me walk out with, and I'll attempt to add them, but it won't let me do so directly connected to this review. If they go through, there'll by 2 pictures of a white female, mid-30's adult with short, brown hair.
To only give details of the front, "choppy" is an inadequate disparage. There is a chunk missing about three or four inches back from my natural part. From that to the part itself, the length is as varied as a mountain range's silhouette. At the longest part, a visible number of hairs go all the way down to the tip of my nose, while to the left and right it's to my eyebrow, further right a chunk is longer again going past my eyebrow, then it makes a sort of diagonal line getting shorter, before it abruptly has about an inch and a half's section where it's inexplicably a few inches shorter, before it was kept longer again as my hairline is going towards my ear. As I don't want to write a thesis essay on the rest of the issues, I'll leave it at the fact that the more I look in the mirror, the more it looks like it was done by a teenager with kitchen scissors.
I don't have words for the feelings of how unimportant as a client and utterly insignificant as a person this haircut has made me feel.
Original Post: Haircut by Sadie: medicore, 2 stars. Granted, she only has a year and a half experience (as of Jan 2025, per her personal details on AZ Hair Co website, found when booking at the Gilbert and Brown location), but it felt like a cut I could have gotten for half the price at a beauty school from a student.
She hardly acknowledged when I let her know where my calics were (or cowlicks, apparently??) and where it naturally parts/how it lays in the front. It felt like a cut that was done by textbook instructions, without paying much attention to my specific hair needs, and missing smaller details like overall evenness, blending progression of hair length, the lack of straightness of the shave line across the back of my neck, etc. (Added: She also dug her clippers into the back of my neck where she shaved, and the skin there is now irritated and uncomfortable.)
After looking at the final cut, I decided not to say anything to her. Given the issues were finishing details - as opposed to being dissatisfied with the overall style - I wasn't comfortable attempting to communicate what she should already know how to do and, frankly, I don't. If I did, I would do my own hair. {Strikethrough} //M//y// //h//a//i//r// //i//s// //i//n// //n//o// //w//a//y// //r//u//i//n//e//d//, //a//n//d// //i//n// //a//b//o//u//t// //t//w//o// //w//e//e//k//s// //I//'//m// //s//u//r//e// //i//t//'l//l// //l//o//o//k// //a//s// //g//o//o//d// //a//s// //m//y// //h//a//i//r// //e//v//e//r// //d//o//e//s//, {strikethrough} (Added: It's definitely going to take more than 2 weeks to look semi-normal. Unfixable? Overall probably not, but the sections she cut too short are definitely ruined until they grow out...) but for me that defeats the purpose of taking the time and spending the money to go to a salon.
Comparitively, back in Oct 2024, I was a walk-in and was taken care of by Rayel. She was phenomenal, 5 star. She was efficient, but attentive, and I would absolutely...
Read moreHorrible place to go for hair. Would NEVER recommend. I went for highlights and when scheduling my appointment I even told them that my hair gets tangled when wet and especially when bleaching it. The girl doing my hair was visibly irritated after washing the bleach out, couldn’t figure out how to even start brushing it, had to be told by a coworker what brush to use. She finally gets it brushed out, blow drys it (even though I still need toner) but she says she “wants to take a picture first” after she finishes blow drying it, I asked about the toner yet again, and she says “we just got it brushed and dry.. You really wanna make me go through that again??” She pulled out her phone in the middle of this and out loud texts her friend “I’ll be there soon” My hair was ALL different types of yellows and banded all around, the highlights were randomly placed and looked so weird, not blended out and just so unnatural. I called the same day to speak to a manager but apparently one wasn’t there. So I continued to call for the next two days and still NO manager?? This happened on a Monday and I’m walking around with yellow, ugly hair and the best they offer is “we can get you in next Tuesday morning or it’ll be 2 weeks out, that’s our only options” I usually work during the week so Tuesday isn’t really an option. They were in no rush to fix THEIR MISTAKE!!! Don’t go here EVER! Had to go to another salon to...
Read moreI got my haircut at the Lindsay/Warner location as I usually do. The girl did a great job as usual. And I have gone to that same location for 12 years. The hair was a little thicker than I expected, so I went to the location on Gilbert/Brown for a quick trim off the top since they were closer. I walk in, and the place is completely empty. The girls are sitting there talking doing nothing. They don't even greet me. I ask for a quick trim off the top and explained the situation. They then refuse to do it saying "we do not know what our stylists do from the location you visited. We can''t cut your hair for this reason". Really?? It was a simple trim...Nothing special...On top of that, they were going to charge me full price. How can you say that you do not know what the stylists "over there" do, when they all use the same trimmers and tools??? Honestly, they just did not want to deal with me. I know it, and the BS that they tried to send my way, I did not buy it...You know why? Because the other location (Lindsay/Warner) always did that no problem. And, after I walked out, Sports Clips did it for me no problem and no questions asked for $5. And they were enthusiastic and kind about the situation. Not lazy sitting on their butts and collecting a paycheck doing nothing. Looks like I found a company who actually takes care of their customers. And does not blow them...
