$500 for a horrible cut and color job. Could have done better and a lot less expensively at Great Clips. No offense to Great Clips. When I go to what is supposed to be an upscale salon, I expect upscale service and am willing to pay for it. Before leaving, I did make a statement that the color and cut was not what I had described. Initially, they were willing to fix it. Witness this exchange from Monika: āThis is exactly what I wanted to see, thank you! And in an ideal world, (or almost ideal), you would like to see what colors in your hair? Lighter, softer, etc. dimension? Even an inspo photo can help us dial it in. Is there a way to snap a pic of the disconnect in the cut? If itās too hard to capture, no stress whatsoever š¤ā I replied with the photos requested. I had a two-week business trip immediately afterwards but promises were made that theyād fix it when I returned. Only to get this reply from Monika: āHi Helen š¤ This is Monika from Tantrum. Isnāt life something? I hope your health has enjoyed some levity⨠I also want to apologize for the delay in getting back to you. I spoke with Desiree, and she really enjoyed her time with you. She did mention that without more frequent upkeep for retouches/glosses, the shine and vibrancy in your hair will start to fade⦠Of course, everyoneās lifestyle is different, and when the timing is right for us to care for our hair, we do it right. Right?š Iād love to help make that timing a little easier for you, so Iām mailing you a $100 gift card, on me, to use toward your next appointment, However you decide to utilize itš¤ Please confirm this is the correct mailing address:ā So we go from making it right to a $100 gift card because they took Desireeās side. Great. That isnāt going to help and now I donāt want to go back, I want a refund and now I need to discuss with the owner.
āHi Helen, I wanted to reach out to acknowledge your concerns and provide clarity. We did offer an adjustment following your visit in June, which you chose to cancel. Our policy allows corrections within seven days of the original appointment, and we were willing to honor that even beyond the policy window. At this point, however, we arenāt able to provide further adjustments. We truly wish you the best moving forward. Heather Owner ā So again, I clearly stated I would be out of state for two weeks and was told it wasnāt a problem. Now we are down to 7 days. Why the sudden change of mind? Desiree, the original stylist, did a horrible rush job on my hair, tried to give me assurances that it will get better as it relaxed and was distracted with other family members in the salon that were there for an event. If she didnāt want or have time to do my hair properly, she should have had someone else do it. Bottom line, spend your money elsewhere. Youāll be glad you did.
Update: After this glib and frankly quite disrespectful response I feel compelled to add more details to my original review. While we understand that experiences can vary, weād like to offer a bit of context thatās deeply personal to us. Our daughters, both currently undergoing oncology care, spent the last two years saving up in order to purchase a gift card for my wife who is also undergoing oncology care. It wasnāt just a transactionāit was a moment of joy and hope theyād been looking forward to for a long time. Their resilience and determination made this gift incredibly meaningful, and we had hoped it would bring a bit of light during a challenging time. Your policy is not a real policy unless you disclose this to your clients beforehand. In this particular case, after discussing at length with Monika, I had expected an appointment to fix what your salon has done wrong. At no time did Monika mention that cancelling this original fix appointment due to illness from treatment would it be a problem. Originally I was willing to allow your salon a chance, but no longer after receiving the above exchanges from Monika and Heathter. I'm now requesting a refund of the $500 that I spent on this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSo first time my daughter and I, would have given a five star but let me tell you what happened. So my daughter wanted her hair done and our regular salon didnāt have much flexibility with her schedule because sheās so busy. So we tried out this place, have never heard of them before and they assign my daughter to Bre - she quoted me prices of $120 an hour. Well I wanted my daughters hair to come out fantastic so I said ok. However my daughter was assigned to a newbie and she wasnāt a seasoned pro at all. With paying $120 an hour I would have liked to have been with a seasoned professional. I left my daughter there and she showed Bre a picture of how she wanted her hair to look. Next thing you know they are looking at swatches, ( my thoughts since I go to JUTT salon in Scottsdale is who uses swatches anymore) I mean seriously. So my daughter and Bre pick out this color that doesnāt even look like the pic that she showed her. Finally my daughter is done 5 hours later which Bre totally milked that just FYI and Iām sitting there getting my bangs cut by amazing Paris. Now I actually like her and Katie a lot. My daughter comes up behind me and her hair looks like the color of cool-aide. I was taken back for sure. Paris tells me they will totally fix it for free if your daughter doesnāt like it. Well my daughter is to nice so she doesnāt say anything in the salon at all. Once we get to the car however sheās like omg mom itās so bright and I look like Wendy from Wendyās. Iām like did you show her what you wanted, yes mom I did. So I call back to get her back in. This girl doesnāt even want to go to school the next day it was that bad. So I called and they were going to try and get her in the next day. They didnāt call when they opened so an hour later I called and Bre answered 𫤠and she said she was going to talk to her manager and call me back. Iāll be honest I didnāt wait very long to call back because I honestly didnāt want to talk to Bre. So instead I talked to Katie and she got us in within the hour and said Bre would fix it but Katie would style and give her a blow out because Bre had to leave. Again told me it would be completely complimentary because they want to make it right. Which after spending $700 I would totally expect that. So my daughter and I got there at 1 and Bre has no idea we are coming in and then tells us she will fix it but we have to pay for the toner. Iām sure you can imagine my response. I said thatās not going to happen, by this time Iāve been told 3 times that it would be no charge and your going to honor what Iāve been told. Bre went to go talk to her manager and then proceeded to fix my daughters hair. An hour later she rinses her and Katie comes over to dry and let me just say the toner Bre used and the combo did absolutely no changes to the brightness on the top of her head whatsoever. So Katie and another amazing hair stylist who had some purple in her hair. I honestly canāt remember her name but she was amazing like Katie, they re-toned her hair with the proper colors and just like that it darkened the brightness from her hair and my daughter was super happy. Which we all know as parents makes us happy. For anyone coming in to this salon, I would just for warn you that Bre is not seasoned and needs more training, and shouldnāt be doing coloring until sheās mastered the game. However I will give the salon staff an amazing 5 stars because they are honestly great, even the director was genuine. Im not a fan of Bre at this moment but Iām hoping and praying she gets better with years of practice. Thank you for hearing me out and my daughter and I genuinely do love this place and the rest...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAt Tantrum Hair Salon they treated me like family, with kindness in their hearts. I was not having a good 25th Birthday, and I went to my scheduled appointment. As with most Families there were still members I didnt care for as much. However, all family members were quite polite and professional in mannerisms. I really liked my hair Stylist. She was very caring and made me feel secure in a new to me, uncomfortable and intimidating environment. I'm going to request her next time I make an appointment. My Stylists name was Charity. I was pleasantly surprised how much I was able to relax here after a shorter then normal period of time, and I do attribute that to Tantrum employees giving me a warm welcome. I typically dont like looking at mirrors but there were beautiful green plants in the background that caught my eye. I truly and deeply hope the remodel has windows for more plant light. The staff here helped me feel beautiful again, and I'm truly grateful for that. From the bottom of my heart. I Highly recommend Tantrum to anyone who is looking to get their hair done on a special day, or regularly. They seem to have a large number of stylists on team, and many of them work together to find out how to best take care of your hair. What I loved most about Tantrum Hair Salon was that I could genuinely tell that not only did they know what they were doing, they were also open to learning more. Also, most seemed genuinely passionate about hair and hairstyling. They are worth every penny. Don't forget to Tip. š This concludes my review. My Warmest Seniments to the current Owner. I really like her. The picture was taken 6 hours after my appointment. My hair stylist politely asked me if I've curled my hair before, I said no, not often. She also informed me they might not hold. I specifically told her I didn't mind, and that I wanted the curls. I loved what she did and wouldnt have had it...
