What a positive experience we had at this Banner Urgent Care location! My daughter and I arrived late Saturday night with a suspected broken foot on me. Krissy at the front desk greeted us with a welcoming, calm, and friendly attitude, checking us in with ease. Without regular insurance, we had a few questions of how payment would work and she explained things clearly and without any irritation at all. Our wait to see a doctor was a bit longer than anticipated, but Krissy kept us informed and apologized so we did not feel neglected.
Once we got to the room, everything proceeded in a timely manner. Erin did a great job of helping us feel comfortable and taken care of, listening to my issues and getting us right into the x-ray room as soon as vitals were taken. Once there, the x-ray tech, Nate, made sure we were not only taken care of, but had a little fun in the process. We were cracking up at his jokes. I especially liked that he was open and honest about what he saw, showing and explaining to us the results. I’ve been places before where the x-rays are almost like top secret files you aren’t supposed to see without a doctor around. I liked that Nate understood it was my foot and I had a right to see what was broken.
After that, we saw PA-C Jay Gunnel who shared with us, in lay man terms, what happened to my foot and answered all our questions professionally but also personably. He took all the time we needed and made sure I was well aware of how to take care of my injury and what to do next for treatment. He even wrote a special note for me to take to the airport since I will be traveling in a couple of days. That is above and beyond!
Next, Nate came back in to fit me for a boot to stabilize my broken foot. You would have thought I was getting designer shoes with his humor! I was also given crutches and good counsel on how to use them so I wouldn’t be back due to another fall.
Through this all, I could sense a strong camaraderie between these employees. They appeared to love their jobs and enjoy working with each other. It totally put us at ease and made the whole experience quite fun. By the end of the night, these employees could have been frustrated and eager to get us out the door (we were the last ones to leave), but they never gave the impression that they wanted to do anything but make sure that we were well taken care of.
My daughter and I left joking that we wanted to come back and hang out with these people. What a great bunch! Next time I need an urgent care, THIS is the one I’ll go...
Read moreFront desk staff was nice, disappointed in female provider. Brought my son in for possible shoulder injury and wanting an X-ray to rule out skeletal injury. She proceeded to do standard shoulder exam and said looks good everything is negative, just rest, ice, ibuprofen. I said I would still like an X-ray as the injury I was suspecting only gives symptoms with a throwing motion but otherwise is negative, she said no there was no indication for it and said X-ray wouldn’t show injury anyway. I was upset and said I disagree with her, but she refused exam and said you would need an mri if anything, not X-ray and follow up with his pediatrician. We left and went to directly to another urgent care on Higley and Southern with same complaints and paid out of pocket for the visit, that provider did same exam and said negative and I again said I’m trying to rule out a specific injury to the growth plate in his shoulder and would like an X-ray, he said we can do it but it won’t show anything. I said I would like the X-ray and he again said it won’t show anything, though I repeated that this injury will show negative during a normal exam and exasperates with throwing and will show in an X-ray. He agreed to X-ray reluctantly after telling me rest, ice, ibuprofen and came back later and said the X-ray did show an abnormality and was leaning towards the injury I suspected and he had consulted with his on call physician regarding the findings as he hasn’t seen it and it was a learning opportunity. I told him I appreciated him actually doing the X-ray and now I have a follow up with Banner Sports Medicine in 3 days for further evaluation and treatment, but extremely disappointed in provider that dismissed the concerns at this first location and just said rest and ice, when I knew it was more than that and could tell she didn’t understand the injury I was suspecting as she said it doesn’t happen in my son’s...
Read moreDisappointed, we've been here twice now & I'd give the first time probably 3 stars & the second maybe 1. It's a newer urgent care, the decor is inviting & comfortable, the rooms are clean & the staff is friendly enough. It is literally 1/2 mile from our home so it's convenient for injuries that can't wait & I have an active 10 year old boy. My major concern is that we brought our son in for a pretty good head wound & we literally waited almost an hour to be seen! We were getting ready to leave once it had been like 45 minutes & they finally called us back. There were only 2 other patients waiting when we arrived. Then, once they did get us into a room & did a basic evaluation of him they almost immediately told us he would need to go to the ER for a CAT-Scan (didn't clean his wounds or anything)! If they thought it was that bad why did they make us wait THAT long to begin with?! Especially when the other patients were clearly expecting us to be seen as soon as we walked in (he was crying & continued to bleed the whole time we were waiting)! One even came up & apologized they were seen first! Even the front receptionist seemed concerned they hadn't gotten us back sooner. I mean, even the ER got us in within 5 minutes because of the headwound being from a blunt trauma. The hospitol literally had him in the CT machine by the time it even took this place to get him evaluated! Luckily, long term, our son will be fine.
My strong suggestion is if you feel something maybe time sensitive and you actually require 'URGENT CARE' or your ailment may land you in the hospital, avoid this place at all costs. If it's something routine, go for it..our first visit was fairly routine & I was satisfied...
