Menards — Local services in Metropolis

We shop in Menards all the time for varying projects. I have always had a very positive experience. The past two weekends we have worked on a project we have had very rude experiences by employees but tonight’s experience was over the top rude! I had a cart of hardware and a few other items we were purchasing and my son in law was behind me with a cart of wood too which I told the cashier was a combined purchase. The cashier rang up the items and gave me a total and I reminded her the wood was mine too. She tried looking it up and could not find the prices and asked us how much it was. My daughter looked it up for her and gave her skew numbers. She gave me a total. It was more than we had discussed earlier in the project. As I am paying for the purchase I asked my son in law what else we purchased to make it higher and he was recapping me. I am still paying putting my PIN number in when a very rude young woman comes over asking if everything is okay. I respond , yes and so does the cashier. I explain the amount was higher and I had questioned my son in law. She said well when you take too long for all we know you are holding our cashier by gunpoint. There was absolutely no reason for her to say this. My questioning in fact was not why it had taken so long. It was the fact we had to look up prices for the cashier and that she had not paid attention to me saying it was a combined purchase. The girl said some other not so nice rude words to which my daughter said to her, “this is what happens when you put a young person in charge with no common sense.” The girl rolled her eyes. I responded you are out of line to the girl. There was no reason for her words to us or a comment about a gun. Good grief! She could tell that was not happening and so could the people on line behind us. If this is going to be the continued behavior perhaps it is worth paying a higher price to another store. This very much upset me and I honestly should have said if you feel this way perhaps we should do a return and taken my money and spent it elsewhere. This is a real split review. I like Menards as far as the store goes. I wish so bad I could fully explain this young lady my wife and I had the not so pleasurable experience with the last time we went. She was very rude, very very disrespectful and acted like I was zero important in her day of life at the store. She has absolutely zero business being a customer service anything for Menards. Zero. For example: I went to the return desk to return some galvanized pipe pieces and to return a Menards in house brand tape measure. I was returning the tape measure because at the 4 inch mark on the tape it had a crack in it. Now to all you who know Menards stands by there inhouse brand of tools and warranties them for life. I explained what was wrong to her and told her I want to exchange this for a replacement. She then proceeded to tell me I was wrong and if I didn't have a receipt showing my original purchase the store wouldn't replace it 🙄. I explained I understand I understand your confusion but Menards does warranty this situation. I then asked her to contact a store manager. She then rolled her eyes, sighed as if I was just waiting her Facebook or tick tock time, but she called the front end manager and she confirmed my position and told her yes it's warrantied. Then she said, and I kid you not, why go through all my trouble to exchange when they are like on $20.00 dollars. Lol. We also had to deal with her later at a open check out lane but like I said it's not worth it and hopefully she has quit by now or even better fired because I can not be the only person who has been treated like a chump. another day at Menards stupid stuff when they can have a check out in the back of the store like home Depot and Lowe's it's in the construction section I had to run to the front because someone didn't put the order in right from the back of the store I just decided to rain flooded my truck got everything wet because I had to go change the order and then go return and then check back out and then go to the back of the lumber department to get the right materials that is so asinine it's unbelievable I should just go to Lowe's for all of my materials for now and then I can just go to the door and check out and check in and don't have to walk to the whole goddamn storeRented a shampooer the lady at the desk should have said it must be cleaned out thoroughly somehow get in a little hole and scrub it out wash it out it had some dirt on it and in the little filter which is a pie where you can't see it and there was water in the other container like half an inch I'm going to have to charge you $20 well I don't care to rent from them anymore they should have said something when you rent the product I'm dyslexia I'm not reading popular 10-page contract to run a machine that had no suction hardly I only use it one day even though I got charged 2 days cuz I had to do something else it wasn't worth the money I'd rather go buy one and leave it on hand from Amazon not...
