I called to see why my bill went up $21 within one month and the lady I talked to wasn't friendly or helpful. She wouldn't explain the bill until I told her I was an auditor who has audited cities and who has recalculated utility bills. Then she explained that the minimum water bill went up $20 in May. When I questioned why June to July was different than July to August, she explained that it was prorated but it was like pulling teeth to get her to explain the rates and calculations to me.
Honestly, I'm not sure that I believe her that the minimum went up that much (since she seemed so reluctant to give me an explanation) so now I'm going to have to take more time out of my day to look up the City's minutes to try to figure it out.
Also, two years ago I moved in, called them to turn my water on, and then had then turn my water off the day before Christmas Eve when there was snow on the ground. Then they closed for 5 days in a row and did not apologize at all when I told them their mistake and how I didn't have water for five days when it was below...
Read moreAs if you needed any more reasons to avoid living in Midwest City this one is yet another. Their entire operation is a scam. The bill is ridiculous to start off with, $150 for a home with 1 occupant was said to be “normal” usage. The bill is purposely difficult to read. It will still show your previous balance even if paid. I’m sure it is done this was to rack up all of the fees that this place hands out like candy. They have extorted $700 out of me for two months of service and all of the late fees, street light penalty fees, fees that aren’t even spelled out. It’s insane how much they steal from us.
They shut my water off for a few days and then posted a notice on my door that my home would be condemned. My bill was $302, then a few days later when I went to pay it, it became $468! I told the lady I would be homeless if that happened. She replied with “You can’t live in a house without water”. What a stupid thing to say. So living on the street is a better alternative? I hate this entire city with a passion and will be moving...
Read moreAbsolutely embarrassing to be this incompetent. You have a resident new to the city and apparently you have to have your trash can facing one particular direction. I come from Oklahoma City for the last 5 years and I've never had an issue getting my trash picked up. These people have skipped me the entire 2 weeks that I've lived here because I didn't magically know that your trash can has to face a particular direction. So now I have 2 weeks worth of trash and they want extra money to come back and do the job they should have done the 1st time. It's a really terrible way to introduce somebody to Midwest City. Would not recommend this city or its trash services to a goldfish. You know it's extortion to force somebody to pay for a service that you don't provide, and then demand extra money to actually provide the service that you're already paid to do....
