Used to come here pretty frequently under the original owners, and would brag to people that it was the best deli in Oklahoma. Not so much the case anymore. Rene would be sad to see what his gem has faded to.
Like other reviewers have mentioned, the food is not consistent and quality has gone way down the last couple of years. Has gotten to the point that I have to ask for extra meat because they were only putting one slice on a sandwich. Also asked for extra sauce today, and still had next to none. The other sandwich I ordered was the tuna and apples, which used to be a sweet, delicious mess of a sandwich dripping with goodness. Today, however, there was next to no sauce; and there was so much black pepper in the tuna, that when I chanced upon a piece of apple it was a very disconcerting flavor combination.
Not only has the food quality gone way down, but the atmosphere has as well. Napoleon’s used to be an inviting place to listen to some good oldies and peruse the latest issue of The Oklahoma Gazette. Now, I have no desire to sit and eat.
This be used to be one of my favorite places to come, but I think it’s time for me to say farewell to it. You have no idea how sad...
Read moreI used to love this place. But...
The sandwiches have gotten consistently worse and more expensive over the years. My sandwich today was especially disappointing: the bread was bordering stale, the meat was thin and the dressing was light.
The service was not memorable, but it was good - the sandwich came out fast and the cashier was pleasant and didn't pressure me into tipping (a rarity, these days).
But the ambience was boring and generic: If you ignore the sign saying "Napoleon" and the accompanying poster of the little general (both of which feel out of place in the otherwise "generic - Christian" atmosphere), you might think you were in a particularly cheap dollar store - the chairs and tables are low quality plastic, the walls are mostly white with various Bible quotes strewn about, and the unfinished ceiling and exposed duct work give the impression that you're in a large shed.
I can sadly no longer recommend this place which was once my favorite Midwest...
Read moreI got the emperor. It advertised having Italian salami, bacon, and turkey. The sandwiches come with lettuce, pickles, tomato, onion, mayo and dressing. Dressing means ranch and it's way too much with the Mayo. When I first go to a restaurant I try to order how they recommend because that's their specialty. I'd recommend getting one or the other or on the side so you can portion control. Big plus was the half sandwich was huge and plenty enough. Way larger than a Subway equivalent. The prices were cheap and it seemed like a mom and pop place. Those are always nice to support. I probably will go here at least once more to give it another shot. Oh, the other thing that was disappointing is the "bacon" was bacon bits and it was only in a...
