TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, WE WILL DRIVE 2 HOURS AWAY TO DEAL WITH A BETTER AND FRIENDLIER BUSINESS. My fiance and I went to this jewelry store mostly because it was close by. We were very determined to get a ring that day and that may have been our downfall. The store is beautiful and the jewelry is nice but everything else is so sketchy about this business. The attitude from the sales clerks when they are not sure they will make a sale is just cold and inattentive and then when they realize they might make a sale, they are "fake nice" to you to make up for the fact that they are completely uninterested in helping you to begin with (To be fair, there does seem to be a couple of friendly employees there but we did not have the luck of dealing with any them). So, fast forward to post buying 3 rings (2 wedding bands and 1 engagement ring), the ring was not sized properly (not sized at all, clerk had me guess my size) or set properly (inclusion was not placed under prong as specifically requested and agreed to), prongs were not polished (I cut a 1 inch gash on my hand on it while changing) and so it had to be taken and fixed. Another 2 months go by, I realize the stone is completely loose, knocks and spins around in the setting so we take it back to fix that. When I inquired why it was loose so soon, I was told that I must not have much diamond jewelry because this happens all the time and that I just had to be more "careful" with it. The icy attitudes and dirty stares that we received each time we HAD to go in because they had to do "free work" on my ring for a job they did not do right in the first place would be enough to make anyone not want to go back. To make matters worse, you never get to speak to the manager/owner. He hides in a special room to the side somewhere and when asked a question that they can't answer, the clerk knocks twice on the door, whispers with him through the door for 5 minutes, shuts the door then comes back and gives you an answer. He can't take a couple of minutes to speak to a customer why? Overall terrible experience. We will be taking the ring to a friendly, trusted jewelry store over a 100 miles away to redo the whole ring and have it done right. We will take the loss money-wise because it...
Read moreI went in today with my sister to get an opinion on adjusting a necklace that my grandfather had passed down to my mother and me. Immediately upon walking in, the sales associate was very condescending and dismissive about my inquiries. The saleswoman automatically assumed that I could not afford to make changes to my necklace (we are two young Black women) and kept repeating that we should not spend our money fixing it because, in her words, "to adjust the necklace is going to be expensive". I ended up leaving the store offended and completely dissatisfied. No other customers in the store were treated in this way, leading us to believe that these were racially motivated remarks. I returned inside the store a few minutes later to speak with the woman to clarify that I have an income that can afford adjusting the necklace, and assuming I could not was offensive. After expressing my dissatisfaction with our previous conversation, we were able to have a productive conversation about the jewelry and determine that, because of the age and softness of the necklace, it was best to leave it as it is. My family has used Valentine's for multiple occasions, and due to the disgusting customer service we experienced this time around, we no longer feel comfortable returning. Valentine's needs to improve their customer service and racial sensitivity to ensure that everyone feels welcome in...
Read moreI went in the first time about a year ago to get my engagement ring resized and they were very nice. However, this past week the band of my ring broke where they resized it. I called them when I noticed it was broken and the person I talked to seemed very disinterested and was not helpful. I went in to the store to show them and talk to someone in person and again, they weren’t very helpful. They said that the ring was bent and that is why it broke, but couldn’t offer any information on how that would’ve happened. This ring was my fiancé’s grandmas and she had worn it for 50 years prior to me wearing it and she never had any problems. I understand then when it gets resized it affects it a bit, but I expected them to make it right since they were the one who resized it. I’m just disappointed in the service we received since a friend had recommended them to us, but I would not go back there after these past interactions.
**In response: We went to a different jeweler and they were very understanding. They explained that not only were there gas bubbles in the ring from when it was resized, but when it was made bigger the metal used did not match the metal of the ring. I have never seen a ring break like mine did, and the other jeweler showed me the other side of the insert was starting to break as well due to the poor job...
