Goretti's — Local services in Millbury

There's a lot of good reviews but most of these reviews are not from legit common sense people. I've been buying things from here for 2 years now and what I noticed quite frequently is the produce not being up to par. Some oranges were moldy. That's dangerous and could really kill someone. Also the hot food section is very hit or miss. Always be careful. Let's note some of the food that's displayed on the premade food cold fridge , are dated 4 days from when they were made. So freshness isn't always a plus here at this family owned business. Now im pointing out vital things that they need to appropriately take action on. People could get sick from the lack of ambition these workers put into the store. Sure they can vacuum and sweep. But that should be the last thing to do for the day and not ignore moldy produce and expired food with wrong dates. Ok. Here's another legit thing. Everything that's not store related is hella expensive. And I mean 3 TIMES MORE expensive. For example. A box of cheez it's here is over 5 dollars. At Walmart it's less than 2.79 for a large box. Here's another example. White castle burgers 8.19 for 6. Walmart it's 5.79 Another example Kimmy Dean breakfast bowls 5 dollars after tax ??? Walmart it's 2.59 Ok... Chips in general over 6 to 7 dollars and raos sauce ECT very expensive almost 13 dollars. This is not a good look considering other markers are selling the same product for 3 times less. I would not recommend shopping a full cart here unless your a rich trust fund baby or a rich Democrat who feeds off of inflation while watching the hard working blue collars dish out tons of money just to fit in with the rich town society. Yeah yeah yeah. Sorry I'm not the type of guy who accepts hand outs and lives lavish. I actually point out the things that are wrong with businesses that others completely purposely ignore. Like I said these 5 star reviews are from people who are blind Litterly. They are too scared to speak on the truth about things In life.

Lets note one more thing. The meat is good. Probably better than most butchers. Why? Well you can see there is very kind older guys who have experience with butchering.

Another thing Some of the younger people are awkward and they make you feel awkward you can sense the depression off of them. I always sense energy and some of the people there have very negative energy....

Smile more maybe you'll go farther in life and bring your energy up, maybe some people are sad because they fail at having motivation to do...

Goretti's is an independent local supermarket. It's not the size of a superstore but all the same it's packed with options. While a lot of the prices are a bit higher than you pay at a chain store there are a lot of reasons to shop here. The owner is often on site, you may see them on a register, bagging your order or walking the store. The meat is the best in the area, on par with a butcher shop. I have never, in more than 40 years of shopping there, had a bad piece of meat from Goretti's. The meat prices range from affordable to decadent. If you are looking for a special cut, they have a butcher, so stop by and talk to them. The weekly Tuesday and Saturday sales are a staple. Tuesdays there are always boneless skinless chicken breast and bananas on sale along with a few other things. Saturdays feature ground beef and bacon with a different mix of items. These sales can be a life saver to a budget conscious family. There is also always a fantastic fruit deal just as you enter the store. I would say I impulse buy that offering 7 out of 10 visits. Like the meat, I have never bought bad produce from this store. There is clearly a lot of time and care put into maintaining a good selection in top condition. The prepared food section and Deli are top notch. They have a wide variety, don't let the fact that the counter is shorter than your local chain fool you! Land o Lakes, Boars Head and many other brands are available here. When some of the chains have dropped their variety of options, Gorreti's may have your favorite, check them out. Their prepared foods have a wide range of items and some of them go fast so be sure to check them before 11am for those fast moving options. Finally, Gorreti's just got brand new carriages. They didn't just invest in the standard large cart, they also added the smaller carts to their fleet. It's a welcome option and a lot easier to maneuver if you know you only need a few items. Have been coming here for years, Prices have always been high, but being in town it’s very convenient. This is my third time in a row where I have picked up soiled or expired goods. The first two times we brought them home and found mold on cheese and meat that was expired three days prior to myself even purchasing it. Today, jokingly my girlfriend, and I laughed about checking for expired goods. I totally forgot the conversation grabbed what I needed today and while I was in line, I glanced down and saw that one of my items was expired already.

This is an extremely unfortunate issue I have noticed as a casual shopper. Again, I’ve had this issue the last three times I’ve been here and I don’t go grocery shopping...
