Minneapolis HiFi — Local services in Minneapolis

Over the past ten years I searched for a new set of speakers to restore life to a tired system and uninspiring listening. I searched online, read best of the year lists, visited the big box stores, and spent time in the small local audio shops. I could not find the right balance of trusted relationship, affordability, and great sound.

Until I stumbled across Minneapolis HiFi via web search. It clicked on the first appointment in the shop with Chris Sain, one of the owners. Over the next year, I purchased speakers, an amp, CD player, subwoofer and finally a turntable. Our new home sound is a revelation, a totally rejuvenated listening experience!

I cannot say enough about the amazingly high quality of the experience. Not only is Chris incredibly knowledgeable about the gear, but he is an excellent listener and marvelous judge in matching your listening preferences, home environment and budget with appropriate equipment.

Chris visited our house several times to view and take measurements of our listening space. My partner, a trusted friend and I met with Chris multiple times to select the components. Finally, shockingly, Chris personally delivered each component as they arrived, set them up, and tested them to insure they were maximized and adjusted to our listening space.

Chris is an amazing and knowledgeable audiophile who knows how to make people (at all levels of music knowledge) feel welcomed. He encouraged me to bring my favorite record to play on the sound systems at this beautiful shop. I was able to pick up on aspects of the music I had never heard before, despite listening to this album dozens of times. They have three divided rooms with increasing quality of sound as you progress through the shop, and each one has comfortable seating. Chris and Kurt went out of their way to help me make my purchase. They are both very knowledgeable in all aspects of hifi. They patiently worked with me until I was not just comfortable but confident and excited about my purchase. They spent considerable time on short notice to ship my equipment out of state and have it delivered in time for a special event. Everything was exactly as promised, as it was purchased site unseen.
