It was my first experience on a cruise and I am trying to remove any biases that may come from the fact that I believe cruises are not my thing.
Moldy smell in multiple areas of the room and ship.
Everything is packed, given how full they are.
Not enough plant-based foods. Began options were hard to find and even in the different dinning options (at an extra charge) had nothing on the menu and required the chefs to prepare something special. In the buffet area NOTHING had ingredients or mark to show vegan. They encourage you to ask crew bt they all say that they don't know, thay they'll ask the chef and you'll be waiting 20 minutes (or more, not sure since we gave up).
Getting a drink can potentially take a while since there's a lot of guests and few crew members.
The Internet is relatively expensive and quite unreliable. The system kept kicking my partner and myself out constantly.
They monetize EVERYTHING they can. The beverage package is about 200-260 per day per person and doesn't allow for one of us to get it, which makes me wonder what people do when one of them doesn't drink. They also charge full price for the last day which usually you unboard around 8am
They charge 18% gratuity on EVERYTHING bt also highly encourage leaving tips at every point and claim it goes entirely to the crew but it is hard to believe since the crew includes in-island people too that handle other cruises. Not to mention that they obviously hire people from lower income countries and have them working at a much lower rate. That is not entirely bad, as those rates are sometimes good for their relative country.
The instructions they gave us took us to a parking area a couple miles away from the boarding with no shuttle, we had to pay an uber.
Ohhh, you also need to pay for parking at the tine of $22 per day
Toiletries provided are bad.... Like...
Read moreWe are a group of 8 including my 84 year old Mother in Law. We went on a cruise on Harmony of the Seas from Port of Miami September 10th 2023. We had reserved a scooter and when we got to ship, there were none available so we took a wheelchair. First day we were at sea, second day we dock at Coco Cay, we had asked for wheelchair service, when we got of the ship, there weren’t any. So we proceeded to walk to nearest trolly to go to pool area. We got to trolly area and the place was pact, there were 4 beach wheelchairs by a wooden fence, unattended and without brakes on, my Mother in law being tired from the long walk tried to sit in one of the wheelchairs, the wheelchair slides back and she fell hitting her head against the wooden fence ( she takes blood pressure thinners for a heart condition, they took us to enfermery and there it all began. That night she started bleeding from the left ear. I put snap king on it and said it would probably heal, it didn’t. We went to see the Ship Doctor and he notified us that it coul be a brain injury. At this time we were at Costa Maya, they flew us by private plane with a nurse to Cozumel that night they put us in a 5 star hotel, the hospital bill was over $ 3,000.00, they did the cat scan and found out it was not a brain injury but a perforated eardrum ( she had her AirPods on at time of fall. They drove us back to the ship the next morning and Royal took over all the expenses, I want to thank the Royal Caribean Customer Service, Medical staff and specially Mathew in Customer Service. Royal Caribean, my hat is off to you guys. You have loyal customers for life. And thank you for hiring people like Mathew , he is a real asset to your...
Read moreBased on 2 cruises, its just okay. The main reason for this rating is based heavily onnthe food. You spend more time on the boat than in port so I feel that if this aspect is poor, it can make for a bad experience. The food is bland and the portions are small in the dining room. Salt and pepper can only help so much. The buffet food is equally bland. Were it not for condiments, some of it wouldnt have been edible. Serving a Cordon Bleu and not being able to tell its Ham, Cheese, and Chicken is a fail. I am aware that not everyone's pallet is the same but even a little flavor goes a long way.
Their hospitality was great, the staff were always polite and helpful. They tend to employ people from different countries so when they host an activity sometimes its hard to follow, especially when they have a mic in their hand. There was something for everyone so it wasnt a terrible experience but we will certainly look at...
