Astera Cancer Care — Local services in Monroe Township

I have been a patient of Dr. Desai since 2009. He has helped me through so much since then. He is kind and patient and never makes me feel alone in my journey. I feel that I have received excellent care throughout the years. Dr. Desai is wonderful. The staff at Astera is just as wonderful. They are kind, compassionate and they always greet me with a smile. My husband was also a patient with Astera. Dr.Ronnen, his doctor took such good care of him. She and the staff always looked out for him and ensured that he had the best quality of life. I am blessed that my husband and I have found such amazing doctors that have helped us through difficult times.

I am still a patient of Dr.Desai. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all that he has done to help me get healthy. He truly is an amazing doctor. Was very happy with Dr. Hopkins. Had surgery almost two months ago to remove tumor from breast. Everything came out fine but here is my problem. After removal I was told that I would probably just need oral medication. Then I was later told probably just some radiation. Tumor was sent to a lab for further testing cause it was a grade 3 tumor even though I had stage 1 cancer. Turns out it was sent to the wrong fax number for approval from my insurance and here I am still waiting to see if I might need chemo. I would like to know who messed up nd how much longer I have to wait. At this point they tell me I am cancer free and I am hoping to stay that way. How much longer do I have to wait. They told me it would take about two weeks to get results and now I have to wait another two weeks to see the oncologist and hopefully they will have results. So far it has been three weeks. Dr Hopkins was great. I give her all 5 stars. She had a friendly and nice mild bedside manner which I found very soothing. She explained everything so that we could understand and was not an alarmist. I would have liked areas to be more sectioned off according to medical needs rather than everyone in same office and waiting room. It seemed more like a clinic than seeing a private Dr in their office. I found the iPad forms a bit daunting to fill out. Not a fan. The office was a bit busy at Monroe and the space around the reception counter was small and a congested place to wait to speak to the receptionist even if one or two people are ahead. Perhaps not enough space for more receptionists because I had to wait a long time for the person ahead to be finished being taken care of until it was my turn. No separate consultation room to speak to the Dr. after exam. Exam room small. Staff was nice and...
