Talk about caring? Looking for a really safe and secure place for a loved one? Do you need quality care, food and lodging?
Look no further! Monroe Village is the perfect place. My parents ( May they Rest In Peace) together were here for a total of sixteen years between the two of them. They found friends, activities, hobbies, entertainment, exercise and much more. Mom sewed, gardened and loved to chat and hear of othersā world travels. Dad was a card player, pinochle, poker and even ran a duplicate bridge game for residents. When Iād come to visit from 1200 miles away I always had a place to stay, great food and even found time to make my own friends with residents.
Now, two years later I was in dire need of finding a place for my younger brother. Nathan and Karen, in Marketing, under the leadership of Jay and Donna, site executives, bent over backwards to help me move him into MV in an exceedingly short period of time!
Do you know that they have four or more living programs at an extremely reasonable price? It was an easy choice for me to make him one of the first second generationers to call Monroe Village home.
I canāt say enough nice things about the staff from top to bottom and back. After years of visiting my parents to now seeing my brother -I know he is not just in good hands- heās in GREAT hands. From the bistro cafĆ© to the dining hall, security to the doctorās office, activities director to the bus driver, they call me Ken because we are like family. My dad was Mr. Boroughs but not me or my brother and thatās the way we like it best. I even get to practice my Spanish, to learn something new on the computer and much needed exercise machines.
For us Monroe Village is not a residence. Itās not a retirement home or assisted living. Itās home and thereās no other place Iād rather he...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI moved to Monroe Village to be near my oldest daughter Janice. I feel so blessed to still be here and see and be with family and friends. This place with its independent living arrangement provides all my daily needs and my medical needs. There is a beautiful dining room, and social activities are available and scheduled all the time. The landscaping is great and I am meeting such nice and interesting people. Monroe Village has many activities, even a pool, and allows me to have my art equipment available at all times and there is an art studio available which allows me to continue the watercolor paintings I do. Initially, the staff introduced me to other artists who live here. When they saw samples of my watercolor paintings they wanted my work to be shown to the other residents that live here, which is why it is in the resident magazine and why my watercolor paintings were on exhibit in the Resident Art Gallery. I was happy to display my artwork with the community. There are so many talented people here - lawyers, doctors and teachers. Being around such extraordinary lives I feel blessed to be able to share part of myself with them. I consider each day a treasure that adds to my wonderful life. See the picture of my birthday cake, with two of my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy parents had been interested in Monroe Village for years, but weren't ready for the commitment. It is a substantial financial commitment, but you do receive a beautiful apartment, wonderful amenities and a caring staff.
Our experience with Paula in the Sales office was wonderful. She talked to all of us (my parents and me) in one of the one-bedroom apartments to show us exactly the space in which my parents would be living. She answered all of our questions patiently - and we did ask the same questions again and again!
Joe, in Marketing was also incredibly patient and helpful. (They were both generous with the chocolate-covered pretzels, a favorite of my mom's!)
Their move date was April 16th and although the experience was a bit overwhelming for two people at 84 years of age, MV has scheduled staff to speak with them in small doses to get them acclimated. It's definitely a load off my shoulders, being an only child, to know they are being taken care of in independent living.
I'm giving it four stars because of its location. Albeit in a lovely spot, it's not easy to get an Uber (I live in Bklyn and don't own a car) so you really need to plan out...
