My wife & I attended a Saturday night Monroe Moccasins minor pro hockey game. Free parking on the north side of the arena offered a short walk to the main entry doors on the southwest facing plaza. We had easy entry through security checks. The rink has typical sightlines of the ice surface, and above average legroom in the lower tier. It was an entertaining game with strong fan engagement, and I was especially pleased with the ushers' very good control of patron flow during play to reduce distractions for other guests.
Now The Bad News: Two PA announcements (once late in the 2nd period & the identical script early in the 3rd) instructed fans to exit the parking lots via the rear property exits, because flash flooding from heavy rainfall blocked access to Lea Joyner Memorial Expressway. IMO, arena management dropped the ball on providing real-time info about the worsening outdoor conditions and further didn't act to ensure the safety of their patrons. This was a serious public safety situation that was handled very poorly, and I can only hope that Monroe Civic Center leadership addresses the response to make sure such weather conditions in the future do not put...

We found some great restaurants, and everyone we encountered was...
