Classic independent coffee shop. The warm smell of fresh brewed coffee wafts over you as you walk in the door. Has classic mellow coffee shop music! Iconic artwork on the walls. This is the kind of place where you get there early, grab a cup of brew, and cozy into a book for a few hours. By the way the coffee was great! They have a talented crew behind the counter. A small assortment of snacks is available. If I lived in the area this would be my regular haunt. I'd be the weird old guy in the corner, but still it's a great place. It's easy to find, and parking is available adjacent to the building and on the street. There are a couple of tables and chairs out front if you want to brave the heat. But it was kind of pleasant early in the morning. I had a regular cup of coffee it has a strong dark flavor. Very nice! Great local coffee shop. Wish I was hanging out longer!

I went into this coffee shop for the first time today on the recommendation of a friend who said they serve amazing food. I had never been there before so I did not know if I needed to go to the counter or sit at a table. I opted to sit at a table after noone at the front greeted me. After 10 minutes I left. My initial reaction was to post a bad review for customer service, but I decided to send a private message through Facebook instead because it could have been a misunderstanding on my part. I explained what happened and received a very curt and rude response from the coffee shop stating that they were a coffee shop and menus are at the front. I did not appreciate being addressed like I'm stupid, so now I will not be back.

Nice coffee shop and cafe. Very much feels like a downtown type of place versus just a friendly local out of the way sort of place. Their breakfast food options were very limited (love a good bagel but they mainly had pastries and muffins) but seems they open their kitchen for lunch and offer more food options then. 4 starts in lieu of 5 isn't about the location or price....it's more just that their lattes did not taste very good. Seems they do a lot of things well but a good hot latte is not one of them. They are seemingly frequented by what seems like folks from their downtown and maybe they just accept this as good coffee. I would probably recommend other local options if ambiance is not 90%+ of what you're looking for.

I have lived in the Monroe area all of my life and love this coffee shop! The baristas are always super nice and welcoming when I walk in. I visit so much that they know my name now. I can tell the menu has been crafted with much care, as the drinks and food are so unique and like no other. My favorite drinks are The 523, the Vietnamese iced coffee, and the Honey Lavender. Depending on the seasons, they also have drink specials and these are always so good and I look forward to seeing what they create. In addition to the great coffee, the food is to die for. My personal favorites are the tuna poke bowl and the grilled cheese. They also add new items to their food menu often, adding lots of variety. This coffee shop also participates and gives back to this community so much. I do wish they had a t-shirt or something I could buy to rep them around town. I highly recommend everyone to visit this coffee shop if you are in the area. You will not be...

I’ve been to this coffee shop a couple of times and I’ve had a good experience with the food and the coffee. Although, I’ve had an uncomfortable experience with the front of house especially. Every time I’ve walked up to the bar (no signs to let you know where to order or really what to do when you come in) I’ve always been greeted with a poor attitude. They don’t seem to have any costumer service whatsoever. Myself and others I’ve spoken to about the restaurant can mutually agree that the bar staff is off putting and come off as condescending. When I come up to order I often feel unwelcome and unwanted, this feeling extends to the others I have spoken to about Standard Coffee. The kind folks bring the food are absolutely excellent. Front of house workers should be the face of the restaurant and for the back of house to be rarely seen, but be more courteous and welcoming, shows a stark disparity in levels of customer service...
