Here in Monte Vista, SLV is usually referred to as "Stars & Strikes." SLV Superbowl is quite old, but is still certainly fun. The prices are pretty cheap, although the building itself is somewhat worse for wear. Most of the seats are missing the bottom screws, and the padding isn't fixed to the seats. Most of the shoes are well aged, and as such, are not in the greatest of shapes. However, these shoes can always be exchanged, and are still usable. In the event that one does not have socks to use, socks can be purchased at the counter.
The lanes are always in good shape, are frequently waxed and oiled, and ready for playing. Like most other bowling alleys, fun animations play with each run. Scoring is also automatically saved throughout the game. There's a pretty wide selection of balls to use, although some aren't in the greatest of shapes.
Stars & Strikes also features a bar and grill. Although I have not visited the bar, I can say that the food is ok. It's somewhat mediocre, but is pretty good overall. The restaurant is in its own room, but there is a small counter on the same side as the bowling alley itself. You can ring a small bell while bowling, order at the counter, and have the food brought to you.
The restrooms are pretty clean, but are just a little small. Stars & Strikes does feature locker rooms, which are pretty nice too.
The staff are usually quite nice, and are always willing to help with whatever your...
Read moreFun place to hang out, with a very nice, friendly, and HELPFUL staff! Bowling lanes and equipment were clean and when our lane got stuck, the staff on duty jumped right in to get it working again, without messing up our game. We appreciated that.
Our only complaint was the food... There was very little to choose from, and it was made very clear that we were NOT allowed to bring in, nor order in, any food from outside of the bowling alley. We were hungry so we all ordered the chicken nuggets with french fries. The nuggets were hard as rocks, and everything was served COLD and flavorless. It was all basically inedible. To make matters worse, it was one of only about 3 items TOTAL that could be ordered. Hot and juicy hamburgers were NOT on the menu.
If the Bowling Alley's food is THAT BAD, they really need to allow pizza delivery, or SOMETHING along those lines, to feed hungry...
Read moreHey, it stays open to the public, so we can all enjoy using it! Do they oil the lanes 3 times a week like in the long, lost past? No. But the technology out there has produced a huge number of bowling balls designed for dry lanes. The kid working on league night works hard. The manager cares about the place and keeps it clean and the restaurant and bar running well. The owners who dedicated lanes really wanted to keep this place open for the people in the valley. I'm glad it's still here. I have no complaints and it's nice to see old faces and...
