We had our truck in for issues with the DPF. they found that the injectors were over-fueling the engine causing excessive smoke to foul the DPF. So we decided to have them change the injectors, The service manager helped on the price a bit by lowering their labor rate to come closer to their sister shop in El Cajon. Also the parts guys tried to get us the best deals on the parts. But we had to ask them to try to get those better deals, they didn't do it automatically for us. As far as service manager and parts people, they were very friendly and helpful to us.
Our main problem was with the shop foreman. He tried to cover his mechanic's butt when they screwed up the valve adjustment. When we got the truck back, I could hear very clearly the valves clattering and the engine running unevenly. I told the foreman that the truck does not sound normal. He told me it sounds fine to him, but I know its NOT. So I tell them to take the valve cover off and do a valve adjustment. They said I have to leave the truck there overnight to get it nice and cold to do the adjustment correctly. I said ok, but I want to see the valve rockers before any work is done. The next morning the foreman takes me into the shop and shows me the engine with the valve cover off. I inspect the rockers and found one of them extremely loose. I ask the foreman how did this happen, he said that he does not know, and insisted his mechanic did not have anything to do with it. I asked why didn't the mechanic report the loose rocker arm. He had to take them off to remove the injectors. The mechanic should have reported it. (The valves were not loose before I came there. The engine sounded smooth before they worked on it). The foreman said they will fix it and they did not charge for the work.
After everything was ready to go, the foreman had to go and insult me by saying "you got away with a free tuneup". My god, I was so angry after hearing that. How can he say that when he knew his mechanic somehow messed up the valve rocker adjustment and was covering his butt by trying to pass off the problem as though nothing wrong and say the engine sounded fine?
Guys be careful with your equipment, if something does not sound right, insist they look into it or take it to another shop for a second opinion.
By the way, those new Injectors did solve my DPF problems, I had no issues since getting new injectors. Also my fuel mileage has gone up! The foreman was right about needing new injectors and he did not do a lot of costly troubleshooting to find the problem. So for that, I gave Inland Kenworth of Los Angeles a rating of "Good" instesd of Poor/Fair
Only if the foreman didn't try to insist my truck sounded "normal" when it was so obvious there was something wrong with the valves. If they came to me and said, "hey your engine sounds like it needs an overhead adjustment, we can check that for you" or something like that, everything would have been good, and I would given an...
Read moreWe recently took our truck to this Kenworth for the first time. First of all I would be wrong to say that there are no mechanics there, but the most you should get done is a oil change. I took my truck in after 8:00p.m. at night so it was a night shift. My only concern was to get the DPF filter baked and installed back on. I get a call from the night shift service coordinator named Fortino, they had conducted a diagnoses and they listed several problems which needed to be fixed. Now I took my truck there knowing that my DPF is clogged, so I tried explaining these buffoons why certain codes would come up, but they didn't bother to listen. My crankcase filter was clogged too and they overexerted that issue like my rods and bearing had to be replaced. Anyway to get back on track, these idiots call me again and tell me that my DPF filter is no good and it had "FAILED A RESTRICTION TEST". For all of your information I had replaced my complete after treatment system less then a year ago(Less then 80,0000 miles ago). So again I put them on track again and went and got my truck out of that hell hole I was in, and next morning I had token it to the Kenworth in Fontana, CA. There I discovered that these so called mechanics had tried to run a Regan and had failed, but they didn't investigate further into seeing what other problem would have effected this. A sensor that lays below the transmission that tells the truck weather its in a parked state or not was damaged. We replaced that sensor and it cost us $174.48. In the bottom I will brake it down for our fellow readers why to never trust this dealer.
-Mechanics have no brain and don't have basic strategic skills -Fortino(night shift service)Miguel(Service Manager) are not knowledgeable in their field of work---must recommend these two a career change to Taco Bell -Their only objective is to charge you money(Commission hungry animals) -They are liars(if you try to repeat something they had said)reaction="It sounds like your trying to put words in my mouth" -This is the biggest part of them all ( they said that my DPF filter failed a restriction test and that means if it fails a restriction test my vehicle automatically becomes a non-compliant commercial vehicle in California's Emission rulings. If my filter in reality hadn't passed they legally could only do two things(replace it or have the client tow the truck out of the shop)
So after talking with my attorney, they had violated state laws and they are going to fined $25,000+local jurisdiction penalties will follow.
Conclusion- apologize for my readers because when I am upset I can go all over the place with my writing, but to conclude am hoping this dealer closes and all the employees there are left without jobs. Thanks to Fortino and their service manager Miguel for this review, many people will be smart enough not to visit this place and weather this place will be open for business in the next 6 months--and that...
Read moreJust wanted to say that I had a problem with my KW recently and this was the closest dealership to me that did warranty work. when I looked them up I was very anxious to take it there because of all the reviews, but this is where it had to go. Let me say from the minute I got there the people were friendly AND knowledgeable. Not only did they start on my truck right away but I like the fact that before they even got in they put plastic on my seats and floor to keep it clean while they were in it. Inland Kenworth did not give me a specific time frame of when my truck would be done (just said call you when its ready) but I will say that I took it in on Monday and it was fixed and ready to go on Wednesday so I didn't lose anymore time that I would on a restart anyway. which worked out great for me. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that they didn't call to let me know what the diagnosis was before they did the work and then they didn't call me on Wednesday when it was done. My company called me to let me know they had a load for me and showed my truck as being done. Other than that I was VERY impressed with their service and customer service. I did talk to the manager and told him about not wanting to take it there due to the reviews and he said they were aware of the bad reviews but so was Kenworth and they had made some personnel changes in the dealership so there would be better service now and hopefully better reviews coming soon. All in all I liked them and...
