@wang Haha your name is wang like my junk lol, not sure what's with the angry reviews but this comunity college is actually rated very high in the state of California for comunity colleges in a lot of fields. I believe it's number 1 for engineering, number 2 or 3 for math just behind smc. They just built a brand new arts center with full addition of theater, film, graphic design and dance courses and in the process finishing a brand new science building, math building and I think the other is going to be for English lit or something. Look if your here complaining about classes being full, well welcome to college its gonna be the same pretty much everywhere especially in the impacted majors like criminal justice, nursing programs etc. I just finished up at elac and transfered to csula and honestly experiencing other comunity colleges I can say this is one of the top in the area IF you know your doing. The eopns program helps students with PRIORITY REGISTRATION for those who complain about classes being full. And there is a very useful councilor which I cant seem remember his name right now, but is very, very informative with all the local colleges and universities in the area. He is very helpful for those that dont know the college systems. And a lot of the teachers there also teach at the UC's, USC, CSU's. A lot of the teachers here have Dr.'s but teach at this level because they like helping there students. Some of the best teachers I've had were (and you can look them up) Gordan(math), Swisano(math), Rosenblott(english), kalidjian(physics), Rahiem(math). But of course if your looking for a college, don't go to a review site like this. Your not looking for a good burger its a college some colleges have better programs than others for different fields. Elac I know from experience is really good for their engineering programs, math (dont take lisa deutch, only bad math teacher there. Shes just very bitter, rolls her eyes if you ask a question and really...
Read moreThe instructors are hit and miss. But it's the counselors that messed up my life! I started school with plans on obtaining a BA. I had trouble with math. The rule that doesn't allow you to take math two consecutive semesters is crap! I attended school for 10 years trying to pass all the required math. I finally had a counselor look into my units to find out if I at least achieved an AA. I did, only in Liberal Arts. The counselor didn't submit my name to the graduation team so I was not called to walk in stage. I took my stupid little degree and got nowhere. I went to cosmetology school then barber school. I opened my shop. But something just hasn't sat right in my heart. That's not what I was destined for. I enrolled back in school over a year ago for a certificate in Addiction Studies. The counselors barely had time for me. They gave me basic information. I finally put my foot down and literally raised my voice about the 25 years that have passed and all I get is basic information. The counselor took a deep breath and started opening my files. First, I could have had another AA in Administration of Justice, back in 2003. I don't need any of these addiction studies classes for transfer. All I need is Statistics and Ethnic Studies and I'll achieve 3 more degrees, add a history class and I'll have a fourth degree. I was just informed about several programs on campus that'll help pay. I've been paying out of pocket. I understand rules change, but I've been back a year and a half!!! Super Mamon! No me...
Read moreOnly recommend this place for the first 1-2years of college for the variety of activities there are for students. As a recent student on this campus I will give it a 1 star because of the simple fact that the math lab(studying area) needs professional positive help and 2 counselors have guided me wrongly. Overall my 1st year experience was great 4/5 this year is a definite -1. I've recently gone into the math lab for help on my homework and lately there is little to no help here. Literally lots of help for intermediate mathematics but only 1 or 2 for advanced maths. Aside from that the tutor only available for upper maths is harsh and has bad personality towards the people he helps including myself. I asked him a question and he got frustrated because I didn't know how to get my answers when that is his job. He is a tutor for a reason and I was very clear on what I was asking help for and he helped but with the most negative attitude. Negativity shouldn't take place in this area. Another bad experience was also recently where i went to see a counselor for my major planning to get my A.S. and they recommended the wrong classes which I didn't even need and had nothing to do with my A.S or transfer so now I'm facing to undergo more years in community college thankfully I'm transferring to another...
