Best In Fresh Foods (BFF) — Local services in Montville

I hate writing this review because the owner and employees are so so kind. I’ve been here several times and will continue to do so only when I need things in a pinch and because the owner is super nice but you really really have to check your items. I’ve gotten a bulb of garlic that was rotten once I broke into it, same with an onion. A green pepper that was filled with water (from being previously frozen?) that ended up rotting in 2 days. A pack of chicken cutlets had a very funky smell when opened a day after purchase. I’ve gotten half and half that spoiled 4 days before the exp date. I wanted to get a large pack of raw, frozen shrimp but they were all chunks of freezer burn/ice. Some packages of bacon were totally brown, I had to dig for one that was a healthy red color. A pack of two muffins that were right on the cusp of being stale. It seems that maybe too much is coming in and not enough being sold and things are going bad. I have gotten things from here that were great which is why I continued to come back but if the quality doesn’t start to improve I just can’t throw my money away any longer. And no I didn’t go back in to complain or ask for a refund. I’m sure the owner would have but I hate the idea of the confrontation at all. I appreciate having this store so close to home and I sincerely hope my review only serves as a way for the owner to do better because I would love to enjoy this store for...

BFF is the greatest! Scott, Stephanie and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I absolutely love shopping there. Ever since I discovered them I’ve abandoned the big chain grocery stores. Freshest produce and soooooo much more! I urge everyone to follow them on Facebook to stay updated on their fantastic offerings… I could go on and on but that would constitute a spoiler alert for you all. You’ve got to see it...

This small grocery store packs a lot into a small space. If you can't find what you are looking for just ask, it can be easy to overlook so. They have excellent produce, great prices and friendly staff. They carry a variety of local products. Their selection changes regularly, meaning there is always something new, but also they may not have the same item again. They close early, so check their hours...
