I am an admirals club member via my Citi card which I use regularly. I had to come To RDU upon the passing of my father to take care of that as well as my mother. Today it was time to fly back home, even though it was so difficult because we just buried him yesterday, but I have no choice. I needed somewhere quiet and away from crowds to wait for my flight because of this difficult time. I scanned my boarding pass and gave my Citi card and the agent pictured below with dark hair who says her name is Claire said that my card is expired, which it isn’t, my expiration is 01/2026. So she would not allow me in. I asked if there’s a number i can call and Claire said to me, “ That’s your problem, lookon the back of the card.” I’m not kidding, she said that, and to someone who just buried their father, so I had to stay so strong so that I wouldn’t cry in public. I called Citi and they said they do not understand why this person Clair was having an issue because my card is active and definitely not expired. The Citi banker asked to speak to Claire, the agent at the admirals club, and she refused to speak to them. Claire said that she is not allowed to use other people’s cell phones. I asked Claire if I could put it on speaker then, and she said No. She then asked me to leave the lobby of the club and kicked me out. I was standing there for a while hoping that someone from Citi could help. And Claire came outside through the double doors and approached me and said someone will be here to speak with you while spitting in my face, however no one ever came. I was told that my family and I were not allowed because we were not flying international nor were we admiral club members ($450 annual fee). i have visited this club at this airport with my colleague from work a few months ago and we flew domestic, with NO issues.. my family and i flew first class and apparently there is NO value of that by American. In addition, ther service on the flight was poor and to top it all, my 1 bag which i checked in 4 HOURS prior to departure DID NOT even make it to Chicago. ..I am very disappointed in the American Airlines hospitality and what thry have to offer. This first class trip was a gift to our kids and my son for his birthday and I was not pleased with the outcome.. Read moreI had some unfortunate delays that meant spending almost 2 days here. The agents at the front desk were very helpful in rectifying all flight related issues including Potential missed connections and rescheduling.
The bartenders were great also, and food (I got the pulled pork sandwich, the chicken bites) was much better than I had expected.
