I don't expect much from airport food, but this was honestly the worst ever. The toasted bagel was hard as a rock, either remarkably stale or actually freezer-burned, and tasted like chemicals. The half & half, whole milk, and oat milk pitchers to add to your coffee, were all empty.
There was only only person on staff, to take orders, make coffees, and prepare the food. They needed at least two more people. They also didn't have any change, which I was told when I attempted to pay in cash. I said that was fine, but I did ask if that was their policy, and wondered why, she explained that they were never given enough change in the morning, and always ran out in an hour or so, and managers just never gave them enough to get through a shift, and never were around to replenish it. There was a woman who showed up for her first day of work to be trained, but the manager was MIA, and never showed upby the time I finally got my order, 18 minutes later. The first day employee said she (the manager) was 40 minutes late.
The woman staffing the counter was perfectly courteous, but obviously overworked and unable to handle the situation on her own.
Inedible food, zero staff support, and apathetic management. Get it together,...
Read moreRaleigh is my home, but due to my work, I travel frequently, and I’m not complaining about it. I genuinely love traveling. I adore airports and the thrill of exploring new places and meeting new people. However, I’ve discovered something that surpasses all those experiences—the comforting embrace of black and white coffee roasters. But even more so than that, it’s the people who make up this exceptional establishment, particularly Ms. Celsestine.
She always seems to be there with a smile on her face. Sometimes, I find myself just wanting to go to the airport to have coffee there, even if I’m not traveling, just because of her demeanor and customer service. It’s beyond anything I’ve experienced in a coffee shop. There could be a million Black and white coffee roasters out there, but there’s only one Celestine. They say angels hide in plain sight doing the most mundane things, and well, I think I may have had the pleasure of interacting with one a few times without even knowing it. Thank you for the great coffee and conversation. It’s been quite...
Read moreI travel a fair bit through RDU and have had the opportunity to try La Farm, Starbucks and the locker kitchen area. I had the single origin coffee and it was better than anywhere else I've been at the airport.
Can't speak to the milk drinks yet, but they look like full auto machines so it's not gonna be like their local cafes but also I don't know how you'd pull that off in an airport with the crazy rushes at odd hours.
I've seen some of the early reviews are a bit rough, but I'd urge you to give it a shot because Black and White makes fantastic coffee and I have to assume the wait time was just a rough patch in opening (I had nearly no wait for my drink).
The food was fine. My pastry wasn't stale, but it wasn't brand new either. Definitely an area for improvement.
Service was great, really nice people behind the counter and were...
