Dave's Toybox — Local services in Mount Joy

We went to Dave's Cleanouts and Collectibles while vacationing in Pennsylvania. We decided to visit the store because we thought that it looked cool and wanted to browse his selection. When we went inside, the prices were not good. The Legos were not priced well, and were either equal or above market price on Amazon, and Walmart and older sets were terribly overpriced.

However, when my little sister picked up one of the Barbie dolls in a package, the owner started to ask her to not squish the box. The box was already in used condition, and my sister knows to not damage any of the products. The owner acted very rude in this instance. He had no decency and started to mumble snide remarks under his breath. Are his customers supposed to not grab the toy and look at it? Is my little sister supposed to just stare at it and not be excited when she saw a Barbie doll she wanted? After his mean attitude, my family dropped everything that they were going to buy and walked out of his place.

The owner and workers are not welcoming and it felt like we were burdens to them. Please avoid this place and look elsewhere. The owner clearly does not like kids.....even though he owns...

Owner predictably lies on review response, there was no be careful there was no compassion in his smart remarks. Look at previous bad reviews, owner is known to disrespect customers who do not pay top dollar amounts immediately.

Owner is a jerk that enjoys yelling at kids. My sister looked at a toy, owner yelled at my sister for looking at it and not buying it. The workers act like you looking around is a bother to them. Owner is unfriendly and the workers are out of shape gasping for air wanting to push you out of the way as they move two toys.

Amazon and ebay are way cheaper!!

Came last year, the guy has the exact same stuff.

Everything is overpriced and the guy gets aggravated that you are looking around. Only reason this place is still around is because they are the only game in town.

Never going back, avoid this place at all costs.

My wife and I took a weekend trip up here. We’re both avid collectors, from cards to neat knickknacks. The odds and ends kind of stuff. This store was a dream come true. Straight back to my childhood with things that I had totally forgotten about. We had finally found some Pokémon packs after months of looking place to place. He had the newest set in a booster box, a 151 booster box, surging sparks and Japanese packs of the common sets. I mean, what would our luck be. His last box of 151 and we pull this gem. But the real prize was the customer service. We had shown up right at closing the day before and we watched him lock up the shop. We said oh well and decided to just wait until the next day. When we got in we told him what had happened and he apologized and said we should’ve just came up and he would’ve opened back up for us. He isn’t just one of those guys that knows this kind of can go for a pretty penny. He’s knowledgeable and cares about what he sells. If we’re ever in the area we’ll definitely...
