Yesterday, March 5, 2025, at approximately four in the afternoon, I went to this Kroger establishment in Providence to withdraw money at Western Union. The person who helped me did not want to give me the attention or carry out the operation I needed even when I kindly indicated in my basic English and I quote Hello, I need to withdraw money at Western Union and although I am Latina and I am studying English, learning day by day, I learned this phrase to communicate because I understand that I am in a country where English is spoken. In this sense, I learned the phrase to be able to do what I needed. The money. The person indicated and I quote, I do not understand, you have to speak English. I repeated it to him once more and he still said the same thing. I asked my children for help and he said that they could not be an interpreter and that his boss told him not to Ender to people who did not speak English and that I was the one who was requesting the Service and that I did not speak English. In summary, I leave my formal complaint here because this person labeled me for having a Latino appearance for hearing me speak Cola with my children for my appearance and for judging me and him deciding It is good or not if my English is or is not really. I communicated in English, my children transmitted the information to him in English and still he did not want to assist me. I feel discriminated against, this was an act of discrimination and racism. Yes, I am an immigrant and I am a legal immigrant and I also have rights as a human being. Ahir, I respect dignified treatment and respect in being served even though I am Latina. Because if I am speaking to him in basic English because I am not a native, I am communicating what I need in basic English. I have the right to be served because he decided so because according to him, his Manager indicated that they could not assist agents who did not speak Spanish because if not, they would fire him and I have my two children as witnesses who had to witness this very derogatory act, truly, it is something that I would not wish on...

As a Local Guide who takes pride in sharing fair and honest reviews, I feel compelled to speak on the extremely poor service I experienced at the Kroger customer service/money center during a recent visit.
The woman working behind the counter walked up to me and asked what I needed. I politely told her, âI would like to cash my check.â Before I could say another word, she immediately cut me off in a rude and dismissive tone, saying, âI can only cash government or company checks.â She didnât even glance at the check or give me a moment to explain.
I calmly let her know that it was a company checkâfrom MTE (Middle Tennessee Electric)âa legitimate rebate check issued by our local utility provider. She finally looked at the check, gave me an attitude, and said, âItâs a rebate check,â then tossed it back onto the counter toward me with absolutely no courtesy, no explanation, and not even a simple âhave a good day.â The entire interaction was cold, disrespectful, and felt completely judgmental. I truly felt like I was being treated differently based on how I looked.
To be clear: I understand and respect store policies. If the check couldnât be cashed, thatâs fine. But thereâs a right and respectful way to communicate with people. This wasnât it. It was humiliating, especially with other customers standing in line behind me. I walked away feeling embarrassed and devalued.
I did speak to the store manager about the situation, and she handled it professionally. She listened, believed me, and mentioned that I wasnât the first person to report this same employee. She promised to address it, and I truly appreciate her for taking the time to listen and show care.
This review isnât meant to attack anyoneâitâs to highlight how important it is for customer service staff, especially in public-facing roles, to treat every customer with basic human respect and professionalism. Kroger, I hope this gets the attention it deserves and that steps are taken to make sure this kind of experience doesnât continue to...
Read moreIf I could leave zero stars, I absolutely would. This most recent Friday, August 8th, I went to pick up groceries for the week. Now, I do not usually switch up the items I shop for, as I know what to expect and I am usually in and out. However, something inside of me was pulling and tugging to check the items I bought. There were stacks of apricots that were moldy, mushy, and overall inedible. Now, I understand that things do happen and sometimes a container can slip under the stack and go unnoticed. This however, was not the case. The date on these apricot packages was JUNE 27th! Not July, but JUNE! The 5 pound bag of Cuties I had bought was riddled with spoiled tangerines towards the bottom, which I did not notice until I got home. As I discovered the befuddling reality of the situation I was in, I had to proceed with caution in every other aisle. The cottage cheese had gone bad two days prior and there were many other customers who were beginning to catch on to what was happening. What sort of reputation is this store trying to uphold? Not to mention, the cost of items within this store are a dollar or two more expensive than competing stores, all of which I would go to before I ever step foot into this location again. These days, grocery shopping is a daunting experience. We all know that our wallets will feel it, but it's what needs to be done to get by now. But, seeing how it would be better to starve than to pick up any produce from here, I cannot say I would recommend anyone to come here. Now, one highlight to this experience were my cashier and bagger. I was talking with them to help the remainder of their shift in oblivion breeze by, and they were incredibly kind.
Heed my warning, I promise you will not regret it. Do better,...
