Have been a customer since the store opened and have purchased several hundred dollars in merchandise as well as promoting the store to others and taking family members to visit, but I won't do any of the above again.
My last visit was approximately 3 weeks ago. I felt like a school child who was about to have her knuckles rapped for being naughty. An employee followed me around the store with a dustpan and broom all the while explaining that her hours had been cut from 30 down to 5 per week and that cameras were going to be installed because of theft. Four different times I was told....you can't touch that...we have to do that now. Those items were Byers Carolers, Jim Shore items, the specialty Santa items almost to the front corner of the store to the right, and the glass ornaments just inside the front door to the right.
Now, I'm not going to purchase an item I can't personally look at and will not be made to feel as though I'm a thief or be watched as if I am that naughty child previously mentioned. I also feel that employees who are loyal to a business and who want to keep their job should not be allowed to unload their troubles on a customer.
She did this same thing to another customer whom I had never seen before or after and as that customer and I left the store together she and I discussed the fact we would not be returning to either make purchases or be abused.
Now, ask why I haven't reached out before now. I have attempted to do so, but due to your not having a local telephone number, that is impossible. I even called the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce in an attempt to get a phone number. The only non 800 number they have is an east Tennessee number and that store is not who I wanted to complain about.
So, have a wonderful day at the not so wonderful or incredible Christmas store. I will not be back and if these practices continue, you will not have a store to be employed by because poor treatment of customers by a business soon has no customers to stay open for.
This is not in any shape form or fashion to be considered to be anything but what it is and that is a bit...
Read moreWent back to give them another chance and in the last 2 years nothing has changed. Zero representation of Black or brown Santa’s, nativity, decor or ornaments. I found many of the items they sell in the store 20-30% cheaper from the brands themselves (at full price) and in some cases even less at big box online retailers. I’m not interested in giving money to a business who price gauges and has zero representation despite that I know several people have asked them directly.
Review from 2022 —- Zero representation. My son was really disappointed as our tradition is to buy a Santa every year. There were TWO TWO Black Santa's, both Jim Shore which is also sold at Hallmark. The large statue and the small version of that statue as an ornament were the only Black Santa's in a sea of decorations. All their nativities are white too. Michael's, Joanns, Homegoods all had Black Santa's but a year round Christmas store doesn't?
We would have loved to have a Santa pic and when I asked if they ever had a Black Santa for kids pics, I was told by the front desk associate that no, they never have a Black Santa but on Sunday's they do have the Grinch for pics and the kids love it. I told her we were looking for representation and The Grinch is not it. Not the same. What a shame and missed opportunity to be inclusive.
Beautiful but mostly overpriced decor and this store is hard to walk through, especially for the...
Read moreIf you haven't been to the expansive Christmas Place near Gatlinburg, TN, then you will be delighted to visit the Mount Juliet location that recently opened. If you HAVE been to the Pigeon Forge location, then this store could feel small and lacking product-wise and you may feel nostalgic for the Smokey Mountains. However, between the Christmas music and the holiday decor, you will not want to go home. You know what, I recommend also placing scented wax melts around the store of balsam and fir or merry mistletoe and customers like me will be powerless to leave. Then a Christmas Inn next door (like in Pigeon Forge) will add to the charm of the season. -- Remember to love yourself with kindness and compassion.
