Delicious, thoughtful food made with love and tradition...that was our experience at Tholos. We started with cabbage rolls and hummus. Hummus, served with soft pita, was silky, garlicky, and flavorful. The cabbage rolls were delicious, stuffed with a savory mix of rice and black beans. We ordered the Mixed Grill plate in order to try a little of everything. Lamb Kofta was my favorite...full of spices...not dry or crumbly as I have had in the past. The lamb chop was a little thin, but still moist and cooked perfectly. Chicken and lamb skewers were equally flavorful. It was served on a flat pita(?)...which did get soggy. Yellow rice was moist and full of flavor. Baklava at the end was just oo! La la! ...so very good without being cloying or overly sweet. The restaurant itself is new, and seems like it is still being decorated. I loved the minimalist Mediterranean vibe in the whitewashed walls, but I think some plants would make things more welcoming. The entrance needs work...it feels like you are coming in the kitchen entrance and not into the restaurant. Also, I felt like if they had larger glasses, the waiters would not have to keep refilling drinks so much. All in all, the warm welcome and great service we received from the owner and the wait staff was enough to keep us coming back; but we are excited to have such a wonderful restaurant in MJ with such amazing and...
Read morePlease note I am a big foodie and prefer stronger seasonings than most. Having eaten a lot of Mediterranean food, I know it varies greatly on the owner's preference.
I dined for lunch on Sunday. I was greeted by the owner and was seated immediately. The owner personally checked on each table while I was there.
By the pictures posted, you can see the food is presented beautifully and appears to be made in house except for the pita bread.
I ordered a cold and hot appetizer, the hot came after the main dish. I personally found the food to be too lightly flavored. The hummus was fairly bland. The cabbage rolls were approximately 75% rice and lightly seasoned relying on the sauce for flavor. I ordered the lamb chops medium, 2 of 4 were over cooked. Very little flavor in the salad dressing. The rice was light and fluffy, it had the most flavor of my entire meal. I finished with the baklava which is as beautiful as the rest of the meal.
There were a lot of customers who seemed to enjoy their meal and the owner cares to see everyone is happy with their dining experience. Unless you like stronger flavors like me, you will enjoy your meal.

Read moreWow, you absolutely have to try Tholos Mediterranean restaurant. We were passing by for ice cream next door and decided to stop in! So happy we did! It's clear from the first bite that this is a place that values quality above all else. The ingredients are so incredibly fresh—you can tell they use only the highest quality produce and meats. The flavors were phenomenal, and every dish was perfectly prepared. While the menu was a little intimidating at first because I wasn't familiar with all the dishes. We had the sampler appetizer and the sampler kabob platter, along with a side of falafel. And let me tell you about that falafel—it was, without a doubt, the best I have ever had. It was perfectly crunchy on the outside and wonderfully moist on the inside, not dry in the slightest. All of the dips, including the baba ghanoush and hummus, were equally fresh and delicious. The meat on the kabobs was so tender, and the flavors were out of this world. My daughter literally wouldn't let go of her lamb chop! The baklava was supreme! The whole meal was the most unexpected and pleasant surprise! Do yourself a favor and go...
